~ Original story:

Heal Animal Rescue, a nonprofit organization in Westmoreland County, said that on February 21, 2023, someone dropped off a dog, less than 1 year old, whom they named John.

John was emaciated and burned on multiple parts of his body.

In an update announcing that John had passed away, Heal Animal Rescue said: “At such a young age, John suffered neglect, starvation, skin burns but most of all advanced stage of Distemper. Whoever did this knew something was wrong and let it go to the point of severe dehydration, anemia, severe neurological deficiencies, paralysis and finally multiple seizures. All of this could have been avoided with a vaccine.”

Heal Animal Rescue said they are not going to let John die in vain and are offering a $500 reward in exchange for information that will lead to whoever is responsible for John’s senseless abuse.

An emotional Mary Withrow of Heal Animal Rescue told KDKA: “This has to stop. We can't let some coward do this to an innocent dog.”

Heal Animal Rescue said anyone who has information about this case is asked to contact the Greensburg Barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police. Thank you!

After a dog was found wandering off North 12th Street and Marrow in Waco with a severe laceration on her neck, the McLennan County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation and The Heart of Texas Lost & Found Pets and Cribs For Canines groups offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to a criminal conviction.

Michelle Ann, president of Heart Of Texas Lost Found Pets/Cribsforcanines, said that the dog, now named Golden Girl, aka G.G., was found on February 18, 2023.

Someone had posted a picture of G.G. wandering the streets and Michelle drove to the location to pick her up. G.G. was not tagged or chipped.

Michelle told 6 News she immediately noticed G.G.’s collar was on too tight causing her serious injuries. “There were four to five more rivets or holes to loosen that collar with, there was absolutely no excuse for this one,” she said.

I don’t know if it was placed on her as a puppy and they just never loosened it, but with how deep it was, I’m estimating at least 3 to 4 months like that,” Michelle told KWTX.

G.G. was in surgery less than an hour after she was picked up.

Michelle explained to KWTX that G.G. is in the care of a trusted veterinarian and will have to spend several weeks undergoing treatment, including, antibiotics, pain medications, and wound cleaning. No doubt G.G. faces a long road to recovery but once she is completely healed, “She'll go to the best home,” said Michelle.

McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara called this a “really bad case” and said to KWTX: “It just makes you sick thinking about the pain that this animal has been in for a long period of time. This isn’t just something that has happened in the last few days. It’s been going on for months and months.”

6 News reports that on February 21, 2023, the McLennan County Sheriff's Office confirmed to the news agency that G.G.’s guardian was found but no arrest has been made yet.

- Iowa, USA -

The Des Moines Police Department said that on Saturday, January 14, 2023, 38-years-old ERIC LAVERN HILL (pictured), took a dog to a veterinarian to be cremated.

The dog was an adult female black Pit/Lab mix named Dynasty.

Dynasty was unkempt and covered with sores. The veterinarian became alarmed due to the furbaby’s condition and Des Moines Animal Services became involved.

Authorities then executed a search warrant at HILL’s residence and the Animal Rescue League of Iowa assisted with the investigation. The organization said in a press release: “When an ARL Animal Services officer stepped into a Des Moines home, the stench was overwhelming.”

In the basement of the property, officials found two large dogs, named Blue and Lexi, shut in separate wire crates, living in their own filth, with no food or water.

Blue is an adult black/white female Labrador and Lexi is an adult brown female Doberman.

There was also an empty wire crate with its door open, the floor covered in dry animal waste. Inside the crate was Dynasty.

According to ARL, both Blue and Lexi needed immediate help, but Blue was the one in the worst condition as she was so thin that her ribs, hips, and spine were clearly visible. She weighed just 31 pounds. Blue was also extremely dehydrated.

Blue was placed on a special refeeding program to help her regain weight safely.

HILL was charged with two counts of Animal Neglect – Serious Injury or Death and one count of Animal Neglect.

Last week, through a Facebook post, ARL advised that Blue “has made great progress over the last several weeks.” The organization said that thanks to a special refeeding program, she has gained 16 pounds. According to a recent update posted by ARL, Blue was adopted this past weekend.

Animal Rescue League of Iowa tells me that Lexi has also been adopted.
