~ Original story:

Heal Animal Rescue, a nonprofit organization in Westmoreland County, said that on February 21, 2023, someone dropped off a dog, less than 1 year old, whom they named John.

John was emaciated and burned on multiple parts of his body.

In an update announcing that John had passed away, Heal Animal Rescue said: “At such a young age, John suffered neglect, starvation, skin burns but most of all advanced stage of Distemper. Whoever did this knew something was wrong and let it go to the point of severe dehydration, anemia, severe neurological deficiencies, paralysis and finally multiple seizures. All of this could have been avoided with a vaccine.”

Heal Animal Rescue said they are not going to let John die in vain and are offering a $500 reward in exchange for information that will lead to whoever is responsible for John’s senseless abuse.

An emotional Mary Withrow of Heal Animal Rescue told KDKA: “This has to stop. We can't let some coward do this to an innocent dog.”

Heal Animal Rescue said anyone who has information about this case is asked to contact the Greensburg Barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police. Thank you!
