The Vicksburg Police Department arrested 33-years-old KOREY EARL JAMAL CAGE (pictured) and charged him with aggravated animal cruelty.

On April 12, 2023, investigators responded to an animal abuse call at Carr Central Apartments on 1805 Cherry Street. Upon arrival, they saw on the balcony of Apartment 321, a Pitbull-type dog who was scared and was shaking. According to a press release by the Vicksburg Police Department and obtained by Voice For Us, “Closed - Circuit Television (CCTV) also shows the abuse taking place.”

Police said the dog had multiple obvious injuries, including blood and open wounds to his/her body, consistent with thermal burns and abuse. The Voiceless Victim was taken to the Animal Medical Clinic for treatment. A veterinarian determined that the furbaby sustained these injuries due to ongoing abuse.

CAGE was taken into custody on April 17, 2023. On the same day he appeared before Municipal Court Judge Angela Carpenter and received a $200,000 bond.

CAGE was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury.

On the evening of Monday, April 10, 2023, Lancashire Police responded to a report about a man who was witnessed dragging a live seagull on Bispham Road in Blackpool.

A video posted on Twitter by user Mick Moore, shows the seagull with a rope around his/her tiny neck.

In an email, Police told me that responding officers arrested the suspect, a male in his 50, for being drunk and disorderly. The unnamed suspect was subsequently "de-arrested".

Police tell me that the incident is being investigated.

As for the Voiceless Victim, a member of the public took the seagull to a local veterinarian where he/she was euthanized.

The apparent cruelty towards the seagull bird has been slammed by the wildlife rescue Brambles Wildlife Rescue. In a Facebook post the organization said: “A number of people contacted us about the image and video circulating on social media of an extremely vile person dragging a seagull on a lead at Bispham Roundabout in Blackpool and in another location on the pavement. We have spoken with Lancashire Constabulary who are dealing with this and are aware of the identity and location of the person involved.”

The nonprofit was flooded with comments by people expressing concern for the bird to the extent that they advised: “Turning comments off now folks because [it’s] consuming our evening removing some moronic comments and blocking idiots with cotton wool for brains 😉”

On March 20, 2023, 21-years-old TIMIA CAMRYN YOUNGER, of Baldwin, called animal control to have her deceased dog picked up.

The responding officer noted that the dog, a 9-month-old mixed breed puppy, was severely emaciated and had sores on his/her extremities.

Following further investigation, a necropsy was performed on the puppy and results showed that the puppy weighed 14 pounds when he/she should have weighed 50 to 60 pounds. Results also revealed the presence of numerous open sores.

Additional lab results showed that the furbaby’s bone marrow only contained 3.2% fat content. A normal fat content in bone marrow is above 80%, with any percentage less than 20% being consistent with emaciation.

Medical findings determined the puppy died of starvation.

Court records show that YOUNGER is facing two counts of Neglect of Animals – Sustenance/Water; two counts of Neglect of Animals – Vet Care; two counts of Cruelty to Animals; one count of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals -Torture; and one count of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals – Causing SBI or Death.

According to online records, on April 11, 2023, YOUNGER appeared before Magisterial District Judge Ralph E. Kaiser to be arraigned on those charges.

YOUNGER is due back in court on April 25, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. for a preliminary hearing.

Updates will be added as they become available.
