The LNDC Animal Protection is reaching out to the public for information after a dog was found dead at Policoro beach tied to a buoy in the sea by a noose.

The monster who perpetrated this egregious act made sure the poor dog would not escape and tied his legs. A necropsy confirmed that the dog died of drowning.

In a Facebook post, the LNDC Animal Protection said the Voiceless Victim was not microchipped. The organization also said that the dog appeared to be a Setter breed, traditionally associated with hunters.

When Harbor Master's Officers pulled out the buoy, they found a second noose on it, probably used to tie another dog. The Harbor Master's Officers, however, advised that a second dog was not located.

LNDC Animal Protection said this horrific crime led them to believe that hunters may be involved as it often happens that when their dogs are no longer suitable to serve them, and are "deemed useless", it becomes necessary to get rid of them, because they are considered a burden.

Ms. Piera Rosati, LNDC Animal Protection’s president is urging anyone who has information about this heinous crime to come forward and help the authorities with the investigation. She said: “This is once again an abominable act, I can't even imagine how such a cold, lucid and ruthless mind could have put such a cruel plan into practice without the slightest remorse. Anyone who commits such a gesture scares me and should scare the whole community of Policoro, because such a person could still commit crimes against more animals. I sincerely hope that the second dog mentioned, perhaps tied to the same buoy, may have survived. We at LNDC Animal Protection have filed a complaint against unknown persons because such a crime cannot and must not go unpunished. It is necessary to do justice and find the culprit at all costs.”

A vigil will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Heraclea Square in Policoro at 8:00 p.m. to honor the Voiceless Victim.

As an indignant Italian national, I bet my life that even if the monster is caught, he/she will not spend one second behind bars. The Italian judicial system is DISGRACEFUL!!!!

The furbaby’s name is unknown, so I took the liberty of naming him Cielo (Italian for sky, pron. 'tʃɛlo) for the tribute image. Should his given name be made public, I will rectify it accordingly.

Aiken County authorities arrested 28-years-old PRINCE WILLIAM DENNIS (pictured) for animal cruelty.

On the morning of Saturday, June 3, 2023, officers responded to the 2530 block of Whiskey Road in Aiken after receiving a report about a dog in distress in a hot car.

Officers found a vehicle with a Georgia tag and a dog inside. Officers reported that a bowl for water was empty and the other one that appeared to be for dog food, did not have any.

The reporting party told officers that she did not know how long the car had been in the parking lot.

Officers returned to the scene later on the same day to find the dog still in the car with a temperature hitting 86 degrees.

The Voiceless Victim was then taken to a local ASPCA.

In the afternoon, DENNIS called police asking about his dog. DENNIS told officers that he takes his dog with him when he goes to work and leaves him/her in the car. DENNIS went on to say that while the dog is in the car, he periodically checks on him/her and claimed that last time he checked on the dog it was approximately 10:00 a.m. and when he checked again at 3:00 p.m., the dog was gone.

Court records show that DENNIS, of Blythe, Georgia, was arrested on June 5, 2023, and charged with one count of ill-treatment of animals. He was released on his own recognizance.

I have sent out several emails and requested additional information about the furbaby.

If I get a response, I will update the article accordingly.

Augusta County Sheriff Donald L. Smith announced the arrest of 59-years-old CARL RUDOLPH LENTZ (pictured).

According to a press release by the sheriff’s office, on June 2, 2023 Augusta County Animal Control received an anonymous call about the living conditions at a property in the 700 Block of Augusta Farms Road. “A citizen had recently purchased a dog from this location”, stated the release.

Animal Control and the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation and when officers responded to the location, they found two dogs who appeared to be living inside a vehicle. According to the sheriff’s office, the vehicle was covered in feces, there was no food or water for the dogs, and the temperature inside the vehicle was 89.6 degrees.

As a result of the extreme temperature, Augusta County Animal Control removed the two Voiceless Victims.

As stated in the release, on the property there were several other dogs who appeared to be in poor condition so with the assistance of the sheriff’s office, Augusta County Animal Control obtained a search warrant.

Sadly, throughout the property officers discovered twenty (20) dead cats and eight (8) dead dogs.

As for the live animals, officers found and removed thirteen (13) cats, twenty-eight (28) dogs, and six (6) ducks. Four of the cats had to be euthanized and one dog had to have his/her leg amputated.

The sheriff’s office said that a temporary emergency shelter has been established by Augusta County at the Government Center in Verona to house all the rescued furvictims.

LENTZ, of Waynesboro, was arrested Friday, June 2, 2023, on one felony count of animal cruelty. On June 5, 2023, an additional five felony charges of animal cruelty were obtained and served by the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office.

LENTZ is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.

Online court records show that he is due back at Augusta General District Court on July 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.

Sheriff Smith advises those who may have “purchased any animals” from LENTZ or have knowledge of the living conditions at this location, to contact the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office at (540) - 245 - 5333 and reference report number 2023-0001669. Thank you.

The sheriff further said that this is still an ongoing investigation and no additional details will be released at this time.
