The Manchester Police Department is reaching out to the public in hopes of getting information on the whereabouts of 42-years-old MEGHAN WILLIAMS and 59-years-old ROBERT GERHOLD (both pictured), wanted on fourteen animal cruelty charges.

In October 2022, police responded to a foreclosed house on 312 Seames Drive in Manchester, after receiving a report of abandoned animals. A neighbor told police that he had not seen the owner in at least two weeks and could see multiple cats through a window.

Officers learned that WILLIAMS and GERHOLD had moved out and left behind fourteen cats without any food or water.

Officers "could smell a strong odor of ammonia coming through an open window". Inside the property officers could see "furniture flipped over, torn up, and covered in feces." On the couch, police found many thin cats who did not look well and appeared to be missing fur.

In the corner officers sadly found a deceased cat.

Across several days, Manchester Police Animal Control found and removed ten cats who were suffering from serious health issues. Sadly, officers also discovered a total of four dead cats.

An investigation revealed that WILLIAMS was the home’s owner and that GERHOLD was also living with her at the time.

If you have any information on the couple’s whereabouts, please come forward and do the right thing. Please call the Manchester Police Department at (603) - 668 - 8711. Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can and call the Manchester Crimeline at (603) - 624 - 4040. Thank you!

After a Ring doorbell video circulated on Facebook showing an innocent cat being abused by two juveniles, the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation and Pet Helpers Adoption Shelter and Spay/Neuter Clinic offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to a criminal conviction. The organization said in a Facebook post: “Pet Helpers, along with other community members, are working diligently to help this feline with the much needed veterinary care.”

The incident happened on Saturday, February 18, 2023.

The disturbing video shows two juveniles walking up to the front porch of a home on 605 Bob O Link Court in Ladson. One of the two scum is then seen picking up the cat and slamming her into the concrete ground. The senseless and cruel act was very amusing for the two individuals as they were laughing during and after the abuse inflicted upon the defenseless cat.

According to WCBD, after the video was shared online, an 8-year-old boy named Holden and his mom found the cat in a yard on Sunday, and Holden decided to name the furbaby Eevee. Holden explained Eeve was a “Pokémon name.”

The following day, Holden and his mom took Eeve to Pet Helpers. WCBD reports: “ The cat does not appear to have any visible major problems.”

Pet Helpers’ Marketing Manager, JJ Steele, explained to WCIV that the cat appeared to be in decent shape on the outside, but x-rays will be taken. “We did, however, just find out the cat is microchipped, so it may have a home and a homeowner who is desperately looking for their cat,” said Steele.

An update on Eeve was posted by LowCountry Animal Rescue a few hours ago. Part of the post reads: “Eevee is safe and is doing well in a foster home. Her foster mom says: ‘Plenty of treats and cat towers in a sunroom all her own! She’s a snugglebug! And, of course, she wants to be on my desk while I am working!’”

Eeve was examined by a veterinarian at the Sweetgrass Animal Hospital and the good news is that she does not appear to have any broken bones. LowCountry Animal Rescue advised that they are waiting for a specialist to confirm. The organization also said that Eeve “is in a bit of pain, most likely consistent with bruising. Pain meds have been started to make her more comfortable.”

Joy Davis, Director of LowCountry Animal Rescue, said: “It’s just not actions that you would anticipate seeing from another human being. But the thing is, is the public is tired of it. The public is wanting people to know, and people like this, we are done letting it be acceptable behavior.”

In connection with this case, the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office has formally charged one of the two individuals with animal cruelty. No details have been released regarding the other scum.

Cumberland County Sheriff Ennis W. Wright announced that on February 11, 2023, detectives arrested 30-years-old CHRISTINA AMBER RATLEY and 29-years-old JORDAN LEIGH DIDIER (both pictured), both of Fayetteville, who are now facing multiple charges of animal neglect and animal cruelty.

The arrest is the result of an investigation by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Cumberland County Animal Services into a complaint of animal neglect and hoarding. Back in November 2022, both agencies discovered several animals in a home on 3215 Marigold Drive. Cumberland County Animal Services said in a press release that due to unsanitary conditions, staff removed fifty-four cats, nine dogs, and one Bearded Dragon. Sadly, two animals were found already deceased and were also removed.

Many of the cats were suffering from upper respiratory infections and several of the dogs and cats had ringworm fungal infections. The voiceless victims received medical treatment under the guidance of the Shelter Veterinarian.

Animal Services Director Elaine Smith said: “It is always heartbreaking to deal with animal hoarding, because usually the individuals involved start out with good intentions. Their lack of ability to see issues in animals under their care can result in very serious cases of neglect.”

According to a news release by Sheriff Wright, DIDIER and RATLEY were charged with fifty-eight counts of cruelty to animals and fifty-eight counts of misdemeanor conspiracy, felony kill animals by starvation, and felony conspiracy.

The duo were taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center and processed. DIDIER and RATLEY each received a $34,000 secured bond. Online records show that only DIDIER is still in custody.

Sheriff Wright encourages anyone who has information about this case to come forward.

You can either call the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Property Crimes Detective L. Pongratz at (910) - 677 - 5458 or Crimestoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
