BRENNAN K. LOEFFLER accused of intentionally running over a cat and dumping the body in a dumpster

The Batavia Police Department arrested 36-years-old BRENNAN K. LOEFFLER (pictured), accused of killing a defenseless cat by running over him/her several times with a motor vehicle.


According to a media release by the Batavia Police Department obtained by Voice For Us, on the late morning of Friday, August 4, 2023, police responded to a business in the 900 block of West Wilson Street in Batavia after they received a report about a deceased cat inside a box found in the business’ dumpster.


Video surveillance from the business revealed a gut-wrenching scene. Footage showed that on the late evening of the day before, a male deliberately drove over the cat, inside a cardboard box, several times then proceeded to discard of the furbaby in the dumpster.


The cat was microchipped and investigators were able to identify his/her guardian. An investigation led to LOEFFLER, a relative of the cat’s guardian. LOEFFLER was identified as the male seen in the video committing the vile act.


LOEFFLER, who resides in the 500 block of South Harrison Street, turned himself in to the Batavia Police Department on the morning of Saturday, September 2, 2023, and was transported to the Kane County Jail. Court records show the same day the murderer attended the bond hearing via Zoom and was released on his own personal recognizance. Records further show that the murderer is scheduled to appear at Kane County Circuit Court on September 22, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Elizabeth K. Flood.


The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office filed against the murderer one felony count of animal torture, one felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals, and two misdemeanor counts of violation of animal owner’s duties.


Authorities did not disclose the name of the furbaby, so I took the liberty of naming him/her Bellflower for the tribute image. Should his/her given name be made public, I will rectify it accordingly.

REBECCA A. HALBACH and BRANDON L. LECONEY arrested - Dozens of dead dogs found inside their home

The Evesham Police Department announced the arrest of 35-years-old REBECCA A. HALBACH and 32-years-old BRANDON L. LECONEY (both pictured).


In a press release, police said that on Monday, August 28, 2023, officers responded to a report of suspected animal cruelty at a home in the 600 block of Main Street in Evesham after a witness reported seeing multiple dogs at the property who “appeared to be sick and /or malnourished.”


Officers made contact with the residents, HALBACH and LECONEY, and discovered live and dead dogs inside the home. Police said the conditions inside the residence were extremely poor due to the number of deceased animals.

According to the release, more than thirty (30) dead dogs were found inside the home “throughout the living space.” Officers also found fourteen live dogs as well as several live cats and rabbits. Nine (9) dogs were taken to the Mt. Laurel Animal Hospital. Many of them were in extremely poor health to the extent that one of them had sadly to be euthanized.


Police said that from the investigation it emerged that as many as a hundred (100) dogs have died in this home and some of them could be buried on the property.


During a press conference, Evesham Police Chief Walt Miller said that a North Carolina-based nonprofit had been placing dogs with HALBACH and LECONEY to be fostered. The organization had been giving money to the couple to care for the dogs but became suspicious that the Voiceless Victims were not being cared for so they sent a representative to New Jersey to investigate.


That person then reported the duo to police and the investigation began. HALBACH and LECONEY were taking money while allowing the poor souls to starve to death!


Eyewitness News identified the North Carolina nonprofit as Tender Mercies Pet Organization.

Tender Mercies Pet Organization has been posting pictures and updates on the dogs they got back into their custody.


A 9-year-old boy was also found to be living in the home and was removed by police due to the unhealthy conditions.


HALBACH and LECONEY are charged with animal cruelty and endangering the welfare of a child.


Police said as the investigation continues, they are working with the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office to process the scene.

Additional animal cruelty charges will be filed once the actual number of dogs can be determined, said Chief Miller.

BRANDON LEE HUNT arrested after Healdton Police found thirty-nine dead chickens on his property

On Tuesday, August 22, 2022, the Healdton Police Department arrested 26-years-old BRANDON LEE HUNT (pictured) after several deceased chicken carcasses and other animals were discovered at a property on 922 Industrial Road in Healdton, Carter County.


According to the arrest affidavit obtained by Voice For Us, Healdton Police Officer Chance Robertson responded to the aforementioned property on Tuesday and knocked on the door but there was no answer. In the front yard of the residence, the officer saw one dead chicken and one dog running loose. On the south side of the home, the officer saw three cages; in one of them were three dead chickens, in another were two dead chickens, and in the last one there was one dead chicken. Officer Robertson also found two chained dogs and one of them, a brown dog, was so skinny that his/her ribs were showing.


As the officer walked to the back of the residence, he discovered a dead chicken by the camper, and more dead chickens inside cages in the backyards. According to the affidavit, “some of the chickens looked like they had just died”, while the others had been dead for a while.

Additionally, Officer Robertson found a black fifty-five gallon drum barrel with several dead chickens inside. The officer estimated a total of thirty-nine deceased chickens throughout the property.


According to a court document signed by Carter County District Attorney Melissa G. Handke, "BRANDON LEE HUNT ACTING TOGETHER AND IN CONCERT WITH REVA BLALOCK" did then and there unlawfully, willfully, knowingly, and wrongfully commit forty felony counts of cruelty to animals. The counts are in relation to the chickens who belonged to HUNT and who were willfully and cruelly neglected by being deprived of adequate care which resulted in their deaths, and to the brown dog, who belonged to HUNT, who was willfully and cruelly neglected by being deprived of proper care.


Healdton Police Chief Dustin Miller told KXII that they also found cats and a decomposed rabbit on the property. He added that Healdton animal control rescued the animals and took them to a local vet clinic to be treated. Sadly, one of the kittens died.


HUNT was placed under arrest and taken to Carter County Jail.


On a separate note, KXII reports that HUNT has been arrested for animal cruelty in 2021, after several dogs and pigeons were found on his property starving with no food or water. Two dogs were sadly found deceased. The following year, HUNT pleaded guilty to the charges of animal cruelty and was sentenced to only one year in jail.
