JOHNNISE DENNELL MYLES arrested for leaving her dogs locked outside on the patio. One died

Officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department animal cruelty section responded to an apartment complex in the 1400 block of North Lamb Boulevard on August 11, 2022, after a neighbor reported a foul odor from a decomposing dog and the whimpering of another dog.


Officers found two Pitbulls. Sadly, one was dead and the other one was in distress and had no food or water.


Police said that 32-years-old JOHNNISE DENNELL MYLES (pictured), left her apartment on August 5, 2022, to go on a trip to California.


MYLES said she was supposed to return to Las Vegas on August 7, 2022; however, she did not come back until August 14, 2022, because she was arrested in the Golden State on an unrelated charge, and after her rental vehicle was impounded, she had to wait for her mother to give her a ride back to Las Vegas.


KLAS reports that MYLES “told police she did not see anything wrong with leaving the animals on the patio, even in the extreme Las Vegas heat, because she believed they had enough food and water.”


According to Las Vegas Review-Journal, MYLES “told police she believed the dogs would be kept cool by a fan in the laundry room that was on the patio.”

The news agency further reports that “Animal control officers found the fan, dog bed, dog food and an empty five-gallon bucket on the patio. Temperatures reached highs of 96 to 105 degrees while the dogs were left outside, according to the report.”


The live dog was not the only VOICELESS VICTIM removed from the hellish apartment. Officers also found and seized a lizard, a snake, and about twenty fish. The snake and the lizard did not have any food or water.


Police said a necropsy would be performed on the deceased furbaby.


MYLES was arrested on August 16, 2022, and charged with two counts of willful or malicious torture, maiming, or killing of a dog.

She was released after posting bail and is due in court on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.


On an unrelated note, online court records show that in 2014, MYLES faced felony charges related to burglary, and buy, possess, receive, or withhold stolen property.

JUAN VILLAREAL arrested after seventeen dogs were found abandoned in a home he was renting

- Texas, USA -


On August 13, 2022, the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a property in the 100 block of Flying Heart Road, just outside of South Waco, after receiving a call requesting the property be checked.


Inside the residence, deputies discovered seventeen dogs who had been abandoned. There was no air conditioning for the furbabies and FOX 44 reports that deputies “noted the temperature was 101 degrees at the time.”


According to 6News, McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara described the home as being in one of the worse conditions he has seen in quite a while. He said the dogs “were trapped in the house with cattle paddles and wire on the windows.”


Animal control services were called in to assist with the removal of the furbabies.


Sheriff Parnell McNamara said the dogs showed clear signs of neglect, with one of the seventeen dogs found in the home suffering from Parvo.

According to KWTX, the dogs were taken to the Humane Society of Central Texas and are receiving treatment. The news agency also reports that Kandi Hillyer, Executive Director of the Humane Society, said: “Who knows how long they were locked up in that house. It was about 115 degrees they measured in that home they came from. A heart wrenching, absolutely filthy environment.”


Deputies learned from the owner of the property that 47-years-old JUAN VILLAREAL (pictured), had been renting the home since 2017.


As reported by KWTX, VILLAREAL turned himself in on the early morning of Thursday, August 18, 2022, after he found out that the FAST Unit was after him.


The affidavit accuses VILLAREAL of abandoning the dogs causing “unjustified or unwarranted pain or suffering.”

He was booked into the McLennan County Jail on five counts of cruelty to non-livestock animals, abandonment and bond was set at $10,000.

DAVID A. HENDRIX arrested after nine dogs were rescued from deplorable conditions

- Tennessee, USA -


On Wednesday, August 3, 2022, the nonprofit Animal Rescue Corps rescued nine dogs from a property on Savely Drive in Hendersonville.

The organization aptly called the rescue “Operation Out of the Dark.”


The Hendersonville Police Department said in a news release that on August 3, 2022, the investigation of property maintenance code violations resulted in the initiation of an animal cruelty investigation conducted by the department’s detectives.


Detectives contacted Veterinarian Dr. Heather Schwartz, who along with a representative of Animal Rescue Corps, was able to respond and quickly assess the need for immediate intervention and treatment.


Detectives then executed a search warrant at the property and with the assistance of Dr. Schwartz, Animal Rescue Corps, and Hendersonville Animal Control, all nine dogs were rescued from the deplorable conditions they were found in.


In a Facebook post, Animal Rescue Corps said: “This was no place for the living. The homeowners moved out years ago -- but they left their dogs behind in this house that was more like a tomb. Windows sealed up. No lights. No air conditioning. Doors wedged shut from years of waste. Buckets of food and water were pushed in through a crack in the door, but it was years since a caring human stood in this house.”


ARC also said that in some areas in the house, feces was more than a foot deep and compacted with trash and bones of several dead dogs.


Part of the Facebook post said: “We had to shovel a path for the door to open enough to bring our tactical equipment and teams inside.

Inside, the remains of dead dogs are scattered throughout the home. Bones by where the buckets were pushed in through the crack in the door speak to a desperate fight for survival. There are mothers who have given birth recently, but no surviving puppies. The surviving dogs are gentle and terrified, blinking from the sudden light from our spotlights and in desperate need of medical, physical, and emotional care.”


Animal Rescue Corps mentioned Hawkeye, one of the dogs rescued from that hellish place and said that the furbaby lost his sight “likely from years of living in the potent ammonia fumes inside.”


Many of the dogs are suffering from “open wounds, dental disease, sores, corneal scarring, emaciation, dehydration, and more”, explained ARC.


Needless to say, that Animal Rescue Corps needs our help to help these VOICELESS VICTIMS.

As for the criminal aspect of this heartbreaking case, the Hendersonville Police Department arrested the homeowner, identified as 57-years-old DAVID A. HENDRIX (pictured).

On Thursday, August 4, 2022, HENDRIX was booked into the Sumner County Jail on nine counts of aggravated animal cruelty. He was released after posting bond.

HENDRIX’s General Sessions Court date has been set for August 24, 2022, at 9:00 a.m.


WKRN reports that Tim Woodward, ARC’s Executive Director, said: “We are grateful that law enforcement reached out for assistance for these animals who desperately need medical care and attention. The level of suffering we witnessed here is some of the worst we’ve ever seen.”


Police said the investigation is ongoing.
