ALEXIS L. HAGADORN-GARMLEY charged with failure to provide sustenance to three dogs

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office announced that 27-years-old ALEXIS L. HAGADORN-GARMLEY (pictured) is facing animal cruelty charges after three dogs were found “in a severe state of malnutrition.”


In a brief media release, Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo explained that it all started with a “dog-at-large” complaint received by the Town of Milton A.C.O. Dave Drozinski on September 26, 2023.


The sheriff's office launched an investigation from which it emerged that HAGADORN-GARMLEY had failed to provide proper sustenance to three dogs over an extended period of time.


According to court documents obtained by Voice For Us, on the morning of Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at a property on Texacana Road in Milton, HAGADORN-GARMLEY

did intentionally, knowingly, and unlawfully fail to provide proper sustenance by depriving necessary food to Ellie, Balou, and Oliver, all Bulldogs.


Documents stated that Ellie, of 2 years of age, was found to be weighing 27 pounds. 3 year old Balou, weighed 23 pounds, and Oliver, 8 years old, was found to be weighing 39 pounds.

All three Voiceless Victims were also dehydrated.


HAGADORN-GARMLEY, of Ballston Spa, was arrested on October 11, 2023, and released on an appearance ticket. Her court date at Milton Town Court was not disclosed.


Ellie, Balou, and Oliver are now in the care of Saratoga County Animal Shelter where they are receiving proper medical attention.


In a statement, Sheriff Zurlo said: “My department takes all complaints involving animals with the utmost sincerity. I am grateful to know that these dogs are now receiving the care they deserve and pray for their complete recovery.”

MICHAEL DWAYN MINGS arrested-He severely neglected his dog resulting in the furbaby being euthanized

After hearing back from Charlotte County Animal Control, I learned that Roxy was sadly euthanized. In an email I was told: “She was riddled with health problems and was severely emaciated. Unfortunately, she was euthanized at the recommendation of the veterinarian. She was a very elderly dog (approx. 15-16 years old), and she was too far gone by the time we made it to her. “

A dog who was found severely neglected, resulted in the arrest of 36-years-old MICHAEL DWAYN MINGS (pictured).


According to a document by Charlotte County Animal Control obtained by Voice For Us, on April 13, 2023, the agency received an anonymous call reporting a possible neglect case involving a Pitbull at a property in Port Charlotte. The caller said the dog was extremely thin.


Officers responded to the location and met with MINGS. They found a female Pitbull, named Roxy, who was severely malnourished. The document stated that Roxy was first taken to the Veterinary Emergency Clinic and subsequently “dropped off at the Animal Welfare League as a hold.”


Animal Control officers attempted to make contact with MINGS multiple times. On one occasion they went to his residence and knocked on the door but there was no answer.


Court documents show that MINGS was located on September 30, 2023, and a check through Central Communications revealed that he had a felony capias warrant for animal cruelty out of Charlotte County. MINGS was placed under arrest and booked into the Charlotte County Jail on one misdemeanor count of confinement/abandonment of animals, and one felony count of cruelty to animals.

MINGS was released after posting a $5,000 bond.


According to court records, MINGS’ arraignment is set for November 6, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. before Judge Shannon H. McFee.

JILLIAN FITZPATRICK and JANINE ALBRECHT arrested for abandoning a one-eyed cat on a Long Island road

On August 27, 2023, detectives with the Suffolk County SPCA arrested 43-years-old JILLIAN FITZPATRICK and 69-years-old JANINE ALBRECHT, both of Bohemia.


The agency said in a news release that on the early afternoon of Monday, July 10, 2023, the two females abandoned a one-eyed black cat at the end of South Denver Avenue in Bay Shore.

According to the release, the cat, a 6-year-old male named Rocky, was abandoned “within a few hundred feet of the defunct Town of Islip Animal Shelter that was replaced with a new building several years ago.”


Suffolk County SPCA said that a Good Samaritan caught FITZPATRICK and ALBRECHT in the act and alerted the agency. The Good Samaritan has since been caring for Rocky. The Suffolk County SPCA said that on August 17, 2023, Rocky underwent surgery but did not disclose additional information.


FITZPATRICK and ALBRECHT were each charged with one count of abandonment and conspiracy for abandoning.

Court records show that their next court appearance at First District Court in Central Islip is set for Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Rosann O. Orlando.
