The images that I have posted have been extracted from a video that went viral on social media with several people criticizing the actions of a grandmother.

The woman, Mrs. Tang, dangled her 7-year-old grandchild named Hao Hao from a 50-foot-high balcony of her 5th floor apartment to rescue her cat.

This happened on Sunday, January 5.

The boy, secured by a rope wrapped around his torso, was lowered along the balcony to the fourth floor where the poor kitten was stuck.

Once the brave young hero managed to catch the furbaby, he put him in a bag, and they were both pulled back up safely by a man identified as the boy’s uncle.

In the video voices can be heard in Mandarin which news outlets say belong to outlookers warning the woman that what she was doing was dangerous.

I wonder whether the grandmother asked the tenant on the fourth floor to try and rescue her furbaby before resorting to this option.

I also wonder whether firefighters were called.

On Monday, December 30, Ms. Amber Helm went to preheat her oven to make dinner and her husband Robert popped in a frozen pizza.

A while later they noticed smoke in the kitchen so Amber told her young children to back up.

She told WRAL: “I looked closely and was like ‘Oh my God! That’s a friggin’ snake.”

The Helms do not have the habit of storing food in the oven so naturally they did not check it before turning it on.

Amber told CNN: “The oven was dark and the snake was likely dead by then from the preheat.”

According to Amber, the snake got in via the holes at the bottom that allow for airflow.

She said: “We aren’t certain yet how it got into the house but assume through our crawl space.”

She took her small children to Applebee’s while her husband stayed home and got rid of the poor snake.

Reportedly, the family moved into their home in January 2019 and said the neighbors across the street own a horse farm and told them they never had any issues like this before.

- Germany -

There is an update on the fire that broke out at Krefeld Zoo, near Dusseldorf and that killed the lives of many innocent animals during the first minutes of the New Year 2020.

You may remember that on January 2, I wrote that officials said the fire may have been caused by those damn Chinese sky lanterns launched to celebrate the new year, and that sky lanterns are known as a fire hazard and are banned in Germany!!!

Well, BBC reports that police say they have questioned three women, local residents from 30 to 60 years old, in connection with this incident.

The 60-year-old mother and her two adult daughters said to be "extremely sorry" and that did not realize that the lanterns - bought on the internet - were banned in Germany.

Reportedly, officers praised them for "courageously" coming forward with information.

The Guardian reports that Gerd Hoppmann, head of the Krefeld criminal police said about the suspects: “They seemed like sensible and responsible people who had shown courage in coming forward.”

The three women are being investigated for negligent arson, a crime that can be punished by up to five years in prison or a fine.
