After Durango Police had put out a call on Facebook needing the public’s help in identifying and finding a male who had been caught on surveillance camera engaging in sexual activity with a defenseless horse, that sick pervert is now in custody.
Police said in a news release that 26-year-old JONAH E. BARRETT-LESKO (pictured below), was detained on Monday, June 28, after officers responded to a possible trespassing incident.
Deputy Chief Brice Current said that while BARRETT-LESKO was in custody, officers recovered text messages where BARRETT-LESKO admitted his sexual interaction with the horse.
BARRETT-LESKO also admitted to his acts during subsequent interviews, police said.
According to a news release by Durango Police, officers responded on the late evening of June 17, to “La Plata County Fairgrounds on report of a male subject exhibiting inappropriate behavior with a horse boarded there. The caretaker of the horse had video surveillance inside the stall and was watching the act.”
The news release goes on to say that “The suspect noticed the video surveillance camera and took it. Officers arrived quickly but were unable to locate the suspect. They did retrieve a backpack and bicycle believed to belong to the subject.”
Deputy Chief Current said that BARRETT-LESKO admitted to leaving his backpack and bicycle behind when he saw approaching headlights.
Police said the backpack also contained numerous burglary tools, which BARRETT-LESKO said were being used to make knives and swords.
The items were sent to a lab for fingerprint testing.
BARRETT-LESKO was charged with cruelty to animals, a class 1 MISDEMEANOR, and possession of burglary tools, a class 5 FELONY.
So, raping an innocent animal is less serious than possessing burglary tools!
I cannot believe this crap!!!
The Durango Herald reports that BARRETT-LESKO is currently being held on a $5,000 bail at the La Plata County Jail.
