UPDATE: JAMES CORELL DOUGHTY SUTHANN sentenced to only six months in jail for breaking a dog’s tail

- Florida, USA -

In February 2019, 39-year-old JAMES CORELL DOUGHTY SUTHANN (pictured below), was accused of breaking the tail of a service dog he was grooming to the point that the tail had to be amputated.

It really does not matter how good our sheriffs are in Florida and how strong and significant their stand is against animal cruelty, there is always a disgraceful judge ready to undermine their work, their efforts, and continues to send the message that animal cruelty is tolerated!

On Monday, May 24, at Moore Justice Center in Viera, disgraceful judge Charles Crawford agreed to a plea deal for SUTHANN and sentenced him to only six months in Brevard County Jail followed by three years of supervised probation.

ClickOrlando reports that prosecutors asked for a year in jail but judge Crawford presented SUTHANN two options: “60 days in jail with a felony conviction or 180 days in jail with an offer to withhold adjudication.”

The filthy animal abuser picked and chose (as if he was at the fruit market), 180 days in jail where no one will torture him or break his body parts.

SUTHANN will have to pay $5,278.61 in restitution and was barred from owning or working with animals during his probation.

judge Crawford, what about after his probation?

Will he be allowed to abuse and torture innocent animal again because in Brevard County animal cruelty is tolerated?

judge Crawford had the nerve to say: “It wouldn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that dog did not want his tail manhandled, so to speak.” And yet, no harsh sentence for SUTHANN!

~ Original story:

On February 6, 2019, Mr. Rick McGuire, an Army veteran who suffers from posttraumatic stress disorder, took his service dog, an 8-year-old German Shepherd named TT, for her grooming appointment to Groomingdale’s Pet Spa.

Video surveillance captured SUTHANN grabbing TT by her tail while being swung off the floor and then her tail was twisted.

SUTHANN then proceeded to hit TT on her head with a hose nozzle for not standing still while he was bathing her.

TT needed emergency surgery which led to the amputation of her tail since it was broken and could not be reattached.

Back then, Live5News reported that Mr. McGuire said: “It’s been a horrible thing for her. It was a horrible, horrible thing to watch on video. There’s just no words for how angry I am.”

SUTHANN was arrested on February 25, 2019, for animal cruelty and released after posting a $2,000 bond.

Online records show SUTHANN has been booked five other times in Brevard County Jail including domestic violence charges.

Well, well done judges for letting him out each time!

Voice For Us believes that animal abusers should not be allowed to negotiate ANY kind of deals and should be sentenced to the same suffering they inflicted upon their victims!!!
