TRACEY DENISE FITZGERALD and STACEY LATOYA FITZGERALD facing charges for tossing a Chihuahua out of a moving car

- Florida, USA -

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrested 54-year-old TRACEY DENISE FITZGERALD and her twin sister STACEY LATOYA FITZGERALD (both pictured), in connection with an abominable act of animal cruelty.

According to the affidavit, on January 22, 2026, both females were in an SUV travelling about 50 mph down a road in Largo, TRACEY was driving and STACEY, from the passenger seat, threw her dog out of the window.

The furvictim is a three-pound 16-year-old female Chihuahua named Princess.

A witness stated that Princess landed on the sidewalk after being thrown approximately five feet from the SUV.

As stated in the affidavit, Princess was taken to Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Care Center. The furvictim sustained multiple injuries, including leaking blood out of her eye, “acute blunt force trauma,” and abrasions that exposed “vulnerable parts of her cranium.” According to the Animal Control report, STACEY refused medical treatment and life-saving measures.

Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Care Center explained in a recent Facebook post that Princess was brought to their hospital right after the incident and part of the post read: “Our veterinary team provided immediate supportive care and pain management, stabilizing her before she was released to the care and custody of Pinellas County Animal Services.”

I have reached out to Pinellas County Animal Services to inquire about Princess and if I hear back from them I will post an update.

Both females were taken into custody on February 26, 2026, and charged with one felony count of cruelty to animals. They were released from the Pinellas County Jail the following day.
