TIMOTHY CHARLES HEFNER arrested after nearly thirty dogs were found in “inhumane conditions” in Henderson County

On July 20, 2026, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Animal Enforcement responded to a property in the Dana neighborhood of Hendersonville after receiving a call requesting a welfare check on the animals at the property.

At the property, authorities discovered twenty-six dogs that according to the sheriff’s office, were being kept in “inhumane conditions.”

Deputies identified 68-year-old TIMOTHY CHARLES HEFNER (pictured), as the person responsible for the dogs.

Arrest warrants state that HEFNER “unlawfully and willfully did intentionally torment, deprive of necessary sustenance an animal.”

Deputies found eight 9-day-old puppies, their mom, sixteen mini Husky mixes, and a Chihuahua mix all in inhumane conditions.

All of the furvictims were removed from the property and according to the sheriff’s office they are now being cared for. The sheriff’s office advised that none of them are available for adoption yet.

The sheriff’s office did not elaborate on the dogs' wellbeing, nor did they release any further information about the case.

Henderson County Sheriff Lowell Griffin said that HEFNER was arrested and charged with twenty-six misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty. HEFNER was then booked into the Henderson County Detention Center.
