The DeSoto Police Department arrested 26-year-old TIMMY ANDERSON (pictured), of Temple.
On the early evening of Friday, July 25, 2025, DeSoto Police and Animal Control Officers responded to the 200 block of W. Parkerville Road after receiving reports of a person camping on church property without permission.
On arrival, officers located ANDERSON who “admitted to squatting on the property and revealed he was boarding ten dogs in a nearby fenced area without the owner’s consent”, stated the press release by DeSoto Police.
Police said the dogs were in an emaciated condition, rated 2 out of 9 on the body weight scale. Several dogs showed signs of severe neglect and two of them had their ears cut off with the surrounding area presenting infected wounds.
According to police, ANDERSON admitted to having the dogs’ ears cut off and to being aware of the open wounds. ANDERSON “failed to seek veterinary care, believing the dogs were fine”, said police.
Given the dogs’ condition, Animal Control Officers removed all of the furvictims under a seizure order obtained through DeSoto Magistrate Scott Kurth.
The poor souls were taken for urgent medical care.
I reached out to the DeSoto Police Department to inquire about all of the dogs and Captain Kirkland identified them as:
A 5-year-old male brindle Cane Corso named Robi
A 1-year-old gray female Pitbull named Nora
A 1-year-old gray female Pitbull named Lacy
An approximately 8-month-old female tan/black Anatolian Shepherd named Finx
An approximately 6-month-old white male Great Pyrenees named Soph
An approximately 6-month-old white female Great Pyrenees named Lobo
Four Pitbull mix type puppies (two gray females, one black female, one brindle male).
I asked whether any of the rescued dogs were euthanized, and Captain Kirkland said that although none of them were euthanized, one of the puppies sadly passed away on his/her own within a few hours of being rescued.
Captain Kirkland tells me that the dogs are doing better now that they are being fed properly and receiving medical treatment.
ANDERSON was arrested on July 25, 2025, and booked into the Dallas County Jail.
He faces six third-degree felony counts of animal cruelty related to the poor condition of six of the dogs with additional charges pending related to the other four dogs.
I took the liberty of naming the puppy who passed away Aspen for the tribute image. Should his/her given name be made public, I will rectify it accordingly.
