TERRY WOLOSZYN charged with forty-nine counts of animal cruelty

- New York, USA -

The Tioga County Sheriff's Office arrived at a property on Pennsylvania Avenue in Apalachin to remove a storage shed and unexpectedly discovered a large number of animals, victims of cruelty.

The animals, including dogs, chickens, hens, roosters, a miniature pony and more, were found suffering from extreme neglect and malnutrition.

Investigator Timothy Schmidt with the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office described the living conditions of the poor animals as unhealthy as well as heartbreaking and told WENY NEWS: “There was fecal matter present throughout where the animals were standing specifically the horse. There was inadequate access to water, there were buckets and things around but they were either empty or undrinkable types of water with different types of mold or fungus.”

Many of the animals found with infections are being treated at area animal hospitals including, Angel Eyes Animal Rescue and Wildlife Rehabilitation, Willow's Wings Animal Sanctuary Inc. Tioga County Emergency Services, Spencer Animal Hospital, and Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, reports WENY NEWS.

Press Connects reports that “Spencer Animal Hospital evaluated and treated each of the dogs and Cornell University Veterinary Medicine is evaluating the other animals. Each dog was given an exam, rabies shots, and flea and tick medicine, with more treatment to follow.”

On Thursday, September 9, deputies arrested 59-years-old TERRY WOLOSZYN and charged her with 33 counts of harboring an unlicensed dog and 49 counts of cruelty toward an animal.

She was issued appearance tickets and will appear for an initial hearing in Town of Owego Court at a later date.

Due to the large numbers of animals, the Sheriff’s Office will also be taking donations to cover their medical care.

If you wish, and can afford to donate, please contact the Tioga County Sheriff's Office. Thank you!
