SUSAN WEILBRENNER arrested – Her dog died after being left in a hot car for several hours

- New Hampshire, USA -

The Portsmouth Police Department arrested 52-years-old SUSAN WEILBRENNER (pictured) of Tamworth, after she left her dog in a hot car who died.

According to a press release obtained by Voice For Us, on June 11, 2023, police responded to the parking lot outside Bed Bath & Beyond and Christmas Tree Shops at 100 Durgin Lane for a report of an unresponsive dog in a vehicle.

Officers learned that WEILBRENNER had left her dog in the car with the windows up for several hours with the outside temperature in the mid 70’s. The furbaby was found lifeless.

Officers reported the temperature inside the vehicle was 125 degrees.

Inside the car police found “a small bowl of food and a very small amount of water on the rear passenger seat.”

Officers identified the dog as a Terrier mix. I have emailed the Portsmouth PD and requested additional information about the Voiceless Victim. I was told that the dog was a female named Bella. As for Bella’s age, police tell me that WEILBRENNER did not know how old she was because she was “rescued” as an adult dog.

Officers took Bella to a local veterinary hospital for a necropsy.

WEILBRENNER was placed under arrest on the scene and charged with cruelty to animals and a violation of the law governing animals in motor vehicles.

She was bailed on personal recognizance and is due at Portsmouth District Court on July 17, 2023.

I have advised Portsmouth PD that I will email them in a few weeks to see if at that point the necropsy’s results are back.

Police asked anyone with information regarding this incident to call 603-427-1500. Anonymous tips can be made through Seacoast Crime Stoppers by calling 603-431-1199. Thank you!
