SHANE MICHAEL MITCHELL arrested for strangling his estranged girlfriend’s Doberman

- Louisiana, USA -

30-year-old SHANE MICHAEL MITCHELL (pictured below), is in custody after Slidell Police promptly investigated an animal cruelty case.

The incident happened on Sunday, May 10, at an apartment complex on Spartan Drive and was captured on Ring doorbell camera.

Following an argument between MITCHELL and his estranged girlfriend, Rachelle Fassy, the accused took the woman’s dog, a 3-year-old Doberman named Rubyjean, strangled the helpless pup and refused to give her back to the woman as a way to get back at her.

The usual cowardly way to hurt a woman.

After Slidell Police were notified early Monday morning, an investigation was immediately launched.

Based on the video recorded by the doorbell camera, not only were detectives able to secure an arrest warrant for MITCHELL for cruelty to animals, but a court order was also obtained ordering Rubyjean to be returned to her mom.

A post from the Slidell Police Facebook page says that investigators received information that the accused may have been at an apartment complex in Slidell or fled to the Baton Rouge area.

Reportedly, he refused to cooperate with authorities, so several undercover detectives set up surveillance in an attempt to locate him.

MITCHELL was then located at an apartment complex on Oak Harbor Boulevard and was taken into custody without incident.

Once officers found Rubyjean safe and sound, they reunited her with her mom.

Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal said: “I was sick to my stomach watching that video. How someone can do hurt a defenseless animal is beyond me. I had the opportunity to meet Rubyjean this afternoon, and she was as sweet and well-mannered as could be. We are glad this had a happy ending for both the dog and her owner.”

MITCHELL is currently being held at the Slidell City Jail.

The investigation is on-going, and additional charges could follow in reference to other incidents.

Thank you all for your prompt intervention that allowed to save this precious life.

Some of you may find the video too hard to watch

Voice For Us Note:

This story was posted on Voice For Us Facebook page on May 13, and then hidden by Facebook.

Also, a person who claimed to be the abuser’s father has repeatedly insulted and threatened my page and my readers.

I banned that person from the page, and they created new accounts to keep posting comments and sending me threatening messages.

I reported the person to Slidell Police Department back in May, but I have yet to hear back from the Department.
