The Irvine Police Department has arrested 22-year-old RUIANG ZHANG (pictured below), on felony animal abuse charges.
ZHANG was cuffed Sunday, April 12, after a witness saw him repeatedly kicking a 5-month-old French Bulldog puppy.
The Department said in a media release that eventually ZHANG kicked the helpless furbaby down a flight of stairs at an apartment complex off Bowery in Irvine.
Police also said that ZHANG lives at the complex and shares the puppy with his live-in girlfriend.
The poor pooch was injured, so officers took her to a local veterinarian.
She sustained multiple broken bones in her legs and will remain in the care of the vet until further notice.
ZHANG was transported to Orange County Jail.
This case will be referred to the Orange County District Attorney’s office for prosecution.
