On the morning of Friday, November 11, 2022, the Fairfax County Police Department responded to a shot-fired call at an apartment building in the 5100 block of Brittney Elyse Circle in Centreville.
Upon arrival, officers learned that two males, both residents of the apartment complex who had their own dog with them, were having a verbal altercation in the breezeway of the apartment building. At some point 33-years-old ROMAN VYACHESLAVOVICH GORELOV (pictured), pulled out his gun and shot the other male’s dog several times. The other resident then picked up his furbaby, a 2-year-old yellow Labrador and Beagle mix, and left the breezeway area, at which point GORELOV followed them and again aimed for the already injured dog and shot a few more rounds.
Fairfax County Police Lieutenant Dan Spital said during a press release that Animal Protection Police responded to the dog to a local veterinarian hospital where he/she was sadly pronounced dead.
Lieutenant Spital also then explained that as part of the investigation, detectives spoke with witnesses in the area who were quickly able to determine what apartment GORELOV went back into. At that point officers made contact with another resident inside that apartment and GORELOV did surrender himself to police officers. A search warrant was executed at the apartment and a firearm was recovered. Lieutenant Spital said a further investigation will be conducted to determine whether that weapon was the same one that was used by GORELOV to shoot the dog.
Online arrest records show that GORELOV is no longer at the Adult Detention Center.
According to court records, GORELOV has a preliminary hearing scheduled for December 28, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.
I have emailed the Fairfax County Police Department and asked whether GORELOV’s dog was removed. I will update you should I receive a response.
