RODRIGO OCHOA arrested for keeping 4 dogs in “horrid conditions” causing 3 of them to be euthanized

- Florida, USA -

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 48-year-old RODRIGO OCHOA (pictured below).

According to the Sheriff’s Office Facebook post, deputies responded to OCHOA’s residence on 4970 23rd Court S.W. in Naples to conduct a welfare check on another person who lives there.

While on the scene, they heard dogs barking and smelled a foul stench of urine and feces coming from the garage.

When deputies went to look at the dogs, they discovered four dogs “living in horrid conditions.”

Deputies said the furbabies “were kept inside a dark garage with no air conditioning. They were locked in small cages, wallowing in their waste, with filthy and mostly empty food and water bowls. Two of the dogs had open wounds and untreated skin conditions. All of them appeared to show signs of extreme drowsiness and confusion.”

According to the report, OCHOA told deputies he had had the dogs for about two years.

The furry victims were identified as:

7-year-old Bull Terrier

12-year-old female American Staffordshire Terrier

13-year-old female Rhodesian Ridgeback

19-year-old female Yorkshire Terrier

OCHOA surrendered the dogs the following day to Collier County Domestic Animal Services.

A medical examination determined the poor souls were “suffering from various ailments as a result of neglect and abuse, including pancreas and kidney diseases, heart conditions, large masses, pulmonary edemas, and degenerative joint disorders.”

Sadly, three of the dogs could not be saved and had to be euthanized.

NBC2 reports that the only dog who survived, Markus, is now in foster care and is looking for a furever home.

According to NBC2, OCHOA said the dogs were his ex-wife’s who left him for another man.

As reported by NBC2, “neighbors called Domestic Animal Services multiple times”!!!

OCHOA was taken into custody on Wednesday, April 14, and charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

He was booked in the Naples Jail Center on the felony charge and released on bond.

Online records show this worthless individual is scheduled to be in court on May 10, 2021.
