- Lombardy, Italy -
Mr. Andrea Combi is offering a reward of €50,000 ($51,995) in exchange for information leading to the identification and hopefully the arrest of those responsible for the death of his dog.
The furbaby, a 13-year-old Beagle named Snoopy, passed away on November 3, 2022, after falling ill. Despite the immediate intervention of the vet, attempts to save his precious life were unsuccessful. Snoopy used to live with his human brothers Marco and Andrea and human mom Emilia.
After Snoopy’s passing Andrea said the family is certain that Snoopy was poisoned with something that someone deliberately threw in their yard. He explained that Snoopy had problems with his back legs and had undergone surgery so he could not run. Snoopy was very sweet, friendly, never barked, and spent his time between the home and the yard.
The family’s suspicion was later confirmed by the results of a necropsy conducted by the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Lombardy and Emilia Romagna.
Snoopy ingested something laced with strychnine.
Being a member of the family, Snoopy was very much loved and very well taken care of. He was mom Emilia’s shadow, wherever she went, he went.
Andrea said that although some people may think that €50,000 is a lot of money, the family feels they owe it to Snoopy to find the individuals responsible and make sure that they are stopped.
Article 544-bis of the Italian Criminal Code states that “Anyone who causes the death of an animal out of cruelty or without necessity is punished with imprisonment from 4 months to 2 years.”
Being Italian, I bet my life that the monster who murdered Snoopy will not spend one hour in jail!
The abandonment of an animal is also a crime in Italy but no one is ever arrested and thousands of innocent animals are dumped all over the country especially during Summer and right after the Christmas Holidays! Law enforcement agencies do not even bother to investigate! Italy, when it comes to punishing criminals, you are DISGRACEFUL!!!!
As Andrea said in his emotional farewell Facebook post, “L' infamia dell' uomo non ha confini... – Mankind’s vileness has no boundaries….”
