REWARD offered in case of a dog found dead at Alamosa Park

- California, USA -

A female dog was found deceased on March 17, and the San Diego Humane Society (SDHS) is reaching out to the public in hopes of finding those responsible for abandoning her.

According to San Diego Humane Society spokeswoman Nina Thompson, the furbaby, a 3-year-old brindle American Pitbull terrier, was found at Alamosa Park, off Mesa Drive south of state Route 76.

The poor soul was severely emaciated and the veterinarian who examined her determined she died of starvation.

As reported by 10Nwes, SDHS said the dog had a body score of 1.

According to the American Animal Hospital Association, that means “Ribs, lumbar vertebrae, pelvic bones and all bony prominences evident from a distance. No discernible body fat. Obvious loss of muscle mass.”

The humane society said the park where the dog was found is next to an elementary school, middle school and daycare and they are hoping someone saw the individual(s) who abandoned the poor soul.

FOX5 reports that Chief of Humane Law Enforcement Bill Ganley said: “If there is anyone who has information about this heartbreaking case or has witnessed anything, we ask that they come forward and let us know. There are a lot of people moving around, so we’re hoping someone may have seen something and can assist our investigating officers.”
