The Schenectady Police Department announced that in collaboration with the New York State Humane Association (NYSHA), it is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in an ongoing animal cruelty investigation.
According to the New York State Humane Association, surveillance video from Wednesday, January 14, 2026, shows a male beating a defenseless dog on Union Street in Schenectady.
NYSHA said the furvictim appears to be a gray and white Pitbull mix.
Authorities have released a screenshot of the male suspect who was caught on video repeatedly hitting the poor dog. As you can see, the photo is not especially clear, but I am sure he can be recognized by those who know him.
A $1,000 has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the scum.
Police said the individual responsible for this vile case will face misdemeanor and possible felony charges.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lieutenant Ryan Macherone with the Schenectady Police Department at (518) - 788 - 6566 or Patricia Valusek with the New York State Humane Association at (845) - 532 - 2756. Thank you!
