PRANAV ARORA arrested for leaving two dogs locked in a car while he was picking up dinner

- Florida, USA -

The Boca Raton Police Department arrested 26-years-old PRANAV ARORA (pictured), after he left two dogs locked in a car without water and no AC on while he was picking up dinner.

Police received a call from a woman who noticed the dogs in the vehicle which was turned off and had all the windows up. The woman saw the furbabies rapidly panting and in distress and when she could not find the vehicle’s owner, she thankfully alerted the police.

According to the incident report, officers responded to 300 Plaza Real of Mizner Park at 6:56 p.m. and located a white Mercedes Benz SUV with two dogs inside.

There was a chocolate Labrador laying in the front passenger seat who was rapidly panting and appeared extremely fatigued.

The second dog, a German Shepherd, was barking aggressively and rapidly panting at the same time and appeared protective over the Labrador, said police.

Officers then met with the witness who said that she arrived at 6:15 p.m.

Officers reported that the vehicle was unlocked and due to the exigent circumstances and concern for the safety and well-being of the dogs, they opened the vehicle's front driver and passenger door.

Officers felt it was not safe to remove the dogs from the car as the German Shepherd showed “aggressive signs.”

Officers put a bowl of water in the back of the vehicle and needless to say the furbabies immediately drank it all!

Meanwhile, at 7:41 p.m. animal control officer Harvey arrived on the scene to remove the dogs. He had a temperature reader which read 94 degrees for the interior of the vehicle.

At 7:50 p.m. as Officer Harvey was placing the Labrador into his vehicle, ARORA arrived.

ARORA told officers that he and his friend arrived at Mizner Park at 6:45 p.m. and went to pick up a takeout from Kapow.

One of the responding officers wrote in his report that his investigation concluded that ARORA “actually carried his animals in a vehicle, in a cruel and inhumane manner, by leaving them unattended without basic necessities.”

ARORA, of 485 NE Spanish Trail in East Boca Raton, was placed under arrest and transported first to BRPD for booking and later to Palm Beach County Jail.

He was charged with one count of animal cruelty and released a few hours later on his own recognizance.

According to online court records, ARORA’s arraignment has been scheduled for September 22, 2022, at 8:30 a.m.

I have emailed the Boca Raton Police Department PIO and asked why ARORA was only charged with one count of animal cruelty since there are two dogs in this case.

I also requested additional information about the furbabies.

If I receive a response, I will post an update.
