MICHELE MARY MASSARA arrested after thirteen dogs were rescued from “appalling” living conditions at a Haughton home

- Louisiana, USA -

The Haughton Police Department arrested 62-year-old MICHELE MARY MASSARA (pictured).

Police said that on May 23, 2025, officers were called out to a residence in the 400 block of Union Texas Road to do a welfare check.

Upon arrival, officers noticed a “horrendous” smell. Through the window, they observed dogs in cages stacked on top of each other.

According to police, MASSARA wouldn’t let officers inside leading them to request a search warrant.

After serving the search warrant, officials were able to rescue thirteen (13) dogs from “appalling” conditions.

Webster Parish Sheriff Jason Parker said in a Facebook post that his office was contacted to assist with the dogs due to Bossier Parish Animal Control not having room for the furvictims.

Sheriff Parker said: “We’re ready and willing to do anything we can to help a neighboring law enforcement agency. I’m glad we were able to provide the resources necessary to help rescue these animals.”

MASSARA was placed under arrest and charged with thirteen (13) counts of animal cruelty. She’s being held on a $460,000 bond at Bossier Maximum Facility.

The rescued dogs have been examined by a veterinarian and are now in the care of LaMa Animal Rescue.

If you wish and can afford to make donations to help out the rescued dogs, you can contact the Haughton Police Department. Thank you!

The case remains under investigation.
