After charging LUIS ANTONIO CAMPOS (pictured below), the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said a second person has now been charged in the case of the callous abandonment of a Husky puppy.

The younger male seen in the video unleashing the furbaby before dumping him on a roadside in Horizon City has been identified as 17-year-old MOISÉS SOTO.

SOTO is now facing criminal charges for ‘cruelty to non-livestock animals; abandon.’

The case will be sent over to the El Paso County District Attorney's Office and the sheriff’s office said this case is now formally closed.

4News reports that CAMPOS told an investigator the dog was a stray in the neighborhood who had destroyed his yard and had also killed his neighbor's dog.

CAMPOS claimed he wanted to relocate the puppy away from his neighborhood and he did not have the Animal Control phone number.

Following an investigation, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has now in custody 68-year-old LUIS ANTONIO CAMPOS (pictured below).

CAMPOS was arrested on Friday, July 23, in connection with the callous abandonment of an innocent puppy.

He was charged with animal cruelty.

According to a news release by the sheriff’s office, on July 20, the Horizon City Police and the El Paso County Animal Welfare Department were dispatched to the intersection of Ascension and Temperance in Horizon City about an abandoned dog.

The sheriff’s office said that “a witness at the scene provided the video that is currently being shared on social media.”

The heartbreaking video shows a younger male by a Jeep with a dog, a Husky puppy.

While the individual unleashes the puppy, al older man is seen in the video through the vehicle’s driver’s side mirror.

The younger male then gets back in the car, and the poor puppy can be seen chasing the vehicle as it leaves him behind.

El Paso Times reports that the furbaby was rescued by a Pawsitive Rescuers of El Paso volunteer and put up for adoption through the nonprofit animal rescue organization Huckleberry Hound Dog Rescue of El Paso.

The good news is that on Wednesday, July 21, the 10-month-old puppy was adopted and his new family named him Nanook, after a dog from the movie “The Lost Boys.”

Maddie Clapsaddle, whose family adopted Nanook, told KVIA ABC-7: “When I saw the video and I saw him run after the car, it just made my heart feel like broken. But now that he’s here and he’s running around and he’s happy, I feel very happy and excited.”

CAMPOS was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $5,000 bond which he was able to post.

An additional arrest is expected as the investigation continues.

I live in Florida and have had 2 huskies and still have number three. I would take any jail sentence handed to me if these two forking wastes of human life were given to me for one minute. I can only wish they are illegals and sent to the streets of any city south of el paso.

if they are legally here, I would stand in front of any judge or officer and plead guilty to any and all charges that I had been given. It would please me to no end to see the cocktail of the death penalty take affect in these most vile of humanity examples. K.H. Sloan
