- Pennsylvania, USA -

UPDATE on 28-year-old JOHN MARK EMERY (pictured below).

On Wednesday, April 14, EMERY pleaded guilty to aggravated animal cruelty for attacking his dog, Archer, and leaving him with multiple bruises and symptoms of a concussion.

Common Pleas Judge Amber Anstine Kraft (pictured below), kindly gifted EMERY with three years’ probation.

EMERY must spend the first three months of his sentence on house arrest.

As reported by The York Dispatch, according to court records as part of a negotiated plea agreement, EMERY was sentenced to three months' house arrest and ordered to pay court costs.

As part of the agreement, a charge of making false reports was dropped.

Judge Kraft you are a disgrace to your profession and an insult to those judges who do take animal cruelty seriously!

On the evening of July 24, 2019, a witness called police to report that EMERY was in the garage of his home in the 400 block of Leaman Lane, beating one of his dogs with an expandable baton.

Hellam Township Police Sgt. Justin Golder responded within five minutes from the call but did not find anything.

According to York Dispatch, Sgt. Golder wrote in the report that it was dark outside and that there were no noises until he walked up to EMERY’s front door.

There, he could hear moaning or whimpering coming from inside.

When Sgt. Golder told EMERY he wanted to check on his dogs, EMERY brought outside a German Shepherd who appeared unhurt.

At that point Sgt. Golder asked EMERY to see the other dog.

EMERY claimed that his other dog, Archer, was out back.

When Sgt. Golder went to check, the yard was empty, so EMERY called out for Archer, and then he unconcernedly said the dog must have run away.

EMERY became agitated at the prospect of allowing officers to go into the home.

Thankfully, Sgt. Golder obtained a search warrant and went back to EMERY’s home at 12:15 a.m.

Archer was found in a bathroom.

Sgt. Golder reported “It appeared that Emery had tried to wash the dog in the tub.”

Police said drops of blood could be seen scattered in the bathroom as if Archer shook after being washed off.

The furbaby had a large cut on the top of his head, as well as swelling.

In EMERY’s bedroom, on a pile of clothing on the floor, police found and seized a black metal expandable baton.

As soon as Sgt. Golder cuffed EMERY, the disgusting individual “immediately” claimed Archer tried to bite him.

Archer and the other furbaby were taken into emergency custody and then transported to an emergency animal hospital for treatment.

The veterinarian who examined Archer said the furbaby had multiple bruises and appeared to be suffering from symptoms of a concussion.

Sgt. Golder explained to The York Dispatch that EMERY had adopted both dogs from a rescue organization and the organization said EMERY violated a contract he signed agreeing not to abuse or neglect the dogs.

Because of this violation, the organization had the legal right to take the dogs back!!!

York Daily Record reports that after the sentence on Wednesday, outside the courtroom, EMERY’s attorney, Justin Heisler, declined to comment.
