JARAMY ZEVON JOHNSON arrested after dozens of neglected animals, including fifteen severely malnourished dogs were rescued from an Adams County property

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 38-year-old JARAMY ZEVON JOHNSON (pictured) as a result of an extensive investigation into the neglect and abuse of numerous animals at a residence in Natchez.

The sheriff’s office said that on July 15, 2026, deputies were dispatched to 12 Lily Lane to investigate a report from a concerned citizen regarding suspected animal abuse and neglect on the property.

On arrival, deputies found chickens, dogs, a donkey, goats, a horse, and a rabbit who appeared to be “severely malnourished and were without adequate food or water”, said the sheriff’s office.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division was called to the scene and assumed the investigation while deputies immediately began providing food and water to the animals.

Investigators documented a total of thirty-four (34) animals on the property and identified JOHNSON as their guardian.

The following day, on July 16, 2026, investigators obtained thirty-four (34) arrest affidavits, charging JOHNSON with fourteen counts of simple cruelty to a cat or dog and twenty counts of confining animals without food or water.

On July 20, 2026, investigators obtained a court-authorized seizure warrant and the following morning, authorities executed the warrant at the residence.

During the execution of the warrant, investigators located an additional dog concealed in a nearby wood line. According to the sheriff’s office, the dog was also found to be severely malnourished and without food or water. The dog was removed and provided veterinary care, bringing the total number of dogs rescued to fifteen.

JOHNSON was arrested on July 21, 2026. At the time of writing, records show that JOHNSON is still behind bars at the Adams County Jail.

Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said that during the course of the investigation, investigators also discovered that livestock previously observed on the property had allegedly been removed after JOHNSON had been instructed not to relocate any animals while the investigation was ongoing.

Sheriff Patten expressed his gratitude to all the parties and agencies involved in this operation. He especially thanked the concerned citizen “who had the courage to call 911 and report what they witnessed. Had they chosen to ignore what they saw, these animals may have continued to suffer. Because they spoke up, fifteen dogs and numerous other animals were rescued from deplorable conditions.”

The investigation remains active, and additional charges may be filed as investigators continue to gather evidence.
