Investigation underway after a dog was dumped in a trash can and sadly died

- Nevada, USA -

The Henderson Police Department is investigating after a dog was found in a tied-up trash bag dumped in a garbage can.

The devastating discovery was made on the early evening of Tuesday, November 4, 2025, near Via Da Vinci and Via Firenze, part of the Inspirada/Sun City Anthem area.

Residents who discovered the furvictim, a brown Maltese or Poodle mix believed to be 10 to 12-years-old, rushed him/her to the Inspirada Animal Hospital where the poor soul sadly died.

Those residents later told officers they found the dog in the 2300 block of Spalato Court.

Dr. Robert Loose, Head Veterinarian at the Inspirada Animal Hospital, told FOX5 that his staff performed life-saving measures on the dog, including three rounds of CPR, supplemental oxygen, and medications. Dr. Loose said: “I’m very thankful for the majority of times where we get to do great things for a great community. But then in times like this, there’s nothing that can really describe the emotions. There’s anger. There’s sadness.”

Henderson Police became aware of this incident through a social media post and launched an investigation.

In a Facebook video, Henderson City Councilwoman Monica Larson said: “Many of you have seen the updates and for those of you who didn't regarding the poor animal, defenseless animal that was horribly tortured and killed, by being tied, double-knotted in a garbage bag and left for dead within the Inspirada community. This individual will be apprehended. The police, the Henderson Police Department are working diligently to find and apprehend and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law this monster that would do something so hideous and disgusting. They will exhaust all remedies. I want the public to understand they're working diligently; they will find this individual. We will not tolerate animal cruelty or any kind of violence. This poor animal didn't deserve this, and they will be caught.

Animal Protection Services, who are assisting with the investigation, took the dog to an external facility for a necropsy.

The investigation is still in its early stages, and no other details are available at this time.
