GABRIELLA ISABEL SALAS arrested – She abandoned a dog and four cats without food or water for days

- Alabama, USA -

The Daphne Police Department arrested 20-years-old GABRIELLA ISABEL SALAS (pictured).

According to a press release by the Department obtained by Voice For Us, officers were called to a property on 126 Windsor Drive on Friday, October 6, 2023, for a welfare check on SALAS.

Police said they were contacted by a neighbor and SALAS’ grandparents because they were concerned for her and her animals as she had not been seen for at least six days.

Furthermore, according to the police, SALAS’ grandparents said there was a history of neglect with the animals so they entered the home.

As stated in the release, “The home was in a state of disarray. There was trash and animal feces everywhere. There was no available water or food for the animals.”

Police found five cats and one dog living in deplorable conditions.

The release described the dog as an approximately 2-year-old female blue and white Bully mix named Blue. Police said Blue was in good condition, weight wise, but “filthy and hungry.”

Among the felines, were an approximately 1-year-old female Siamese mix named Opal who was “filthy and slightly underweight”, and three kittens. The kittens were described as one male and two females approximately 4 months old, “all filthy and underweight.”

Daphne Animal Control responded to assist and with SALAS’ grandparents they came up with a plan to care for the Voiceless Victims for the weekend because the temporary animal shelter was full.

Meanwhile Officers were making calls to locate SALAS and they eventually tracked her down in Mobile. She would not say where she had been for six days.

On Monday, October 9, 2023, Animal Control along with police obtained a search warrant to seize the furvictims and they have been since in the care of the Daphne Animal Shelter.

The furbabies were treated for fleas and dewormed. The poor souls will remain at the shelter until SALAS’ court date in December.

SALAS returned home on October 30, 2023, and after police were made aware of it, she was placed under arrest. In addition to the animal cruelty charges, police charged her with two counts of drugs that were located upon serving the warrant.
