Dog found lying lifeless in the backyard of a vacant house in the Penn North neighborhood needs help

- Maryland, USA -

On Monday, April 6, officers with BARCS (Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter) responded to a call about a dog lying lifeless in the backyard of a vacant house in the Penn North neighborhood.

At BARCS, they do not know how the pup, named Sophie, ended up where she was found.

It’s possible that Sophie was callously dumped, or maybe she collapsed, given how weak she was.

BARCS wrote in their Facebook post that the furbaby could not even walk or lift her head.

Reportedly, every part of her body was sunken in, and it was apparent that she hadn’t eaten for a long time. Her body was hypothermic from her severe emaciation.

As her pictures below shows, you can see every bone, including the indents of her skull.

The shelter wrote: “While Sophie couldn’t lift her head or body, her little eyes followed everyone in the exam room. Her tail wagged each time someone touched her, and she would try to nudge her nose and paws towards our teams’ hands for more love. Sophie was only at our shelter briefly before being transported to a partnering Franky Fund clinic ER, where she is currently fighting for her life.”

Sophie right now needs a lot of pawsitive thoughts, prayers, and monetary donations.

If you can afford to donate, please visit the Franky Fund website. Thank you!
