Dog found cemented to a sidewalk and left to die is recovering at Tri-County Humane

- Florida, USA -

The animal rescue Tri-County Humane has been caring for a dog who was found cemented to a sidewalk off Yamato Road in Boca Raton. A Good Samaritan found him and took him to the shelter.

On January 23, 2023, the nonprofit shared pictures of the VOICELESS VICTIM whom they named Trooper. In a Facebook post, they said the pup’s smell was “unbearable”.

While Trooper was being shaved down, maggots crawled from his fur. He had overgrown nails and terrible dental decay.

Staff do not know for how long Trooper was left in that condition but it definitely did not happen overnight. Dr. Julia Sheehan, the veterinarian who has been treating Trooper, told 25WPBF that the poor pooch had been lying in his own waste for so long, he had literally been glued to the ground. “It took them, they say, about an hour to pick him up off the sidewalk. He was stuck,” she said.

Dr. Sheehan estimates that Trooper is about 10 years old and is a Pekingese mix.

Tri-County Humane said that Trooper was diagnosed with twenty-two medical conditions. Among his most critical ailments are paralysis, heart murmur, corneal ulcers, enlarged prostate, worms, severe periodontal disease, ear infections, and urinary tract infection.

Trooper is recovering and Dr. Sheehan said his prognosis is excellent.

I have emailed the Boca Raton Police Department to inquire whether they are investigating the incident and I learned that they are not so I have also emailed the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. If I hear back, I will post an update.

I f you wish and can afford to help out with Trooper’s medical care, please click here. Thank you!
