An unidentified man put his dog on the roof of his car without protection and drove through the busy streets of Leshan in Sichuan Province.
The shocking video was uploaded by Leshan Traffic Police on April 22, and it shows a black dog sitting on the roof of a white vehicle without wearing a harness while his guardian drives through the city center.
At some point in the video, the poor furbaby can be seen sliding down to the front, so the driver stops, and the pup climbs back up to the top.
A witness alerted the police, and eventually, this despicable individual was tracked down and questioned.
He told officers that he was taking his dog to a veterinary clinic for an injection, and there was no room inside the car.
He also added: “I was worried that the dog would suffocate being inside the trunk, but I had stuff piled in the backseat that day.”
The World News reports that in the video, a police officer can be heard asking the nameless driver: “How can you make sure that it wouldn’ t jump off the car?”
To which he responded: “That dog is well-trained.”
It’s unclear whether the driver was punished for this action.
There are currently no nationwide laws in China that explicitly prohibit the mistreatment of animals, and for years Chinese activists have been urging for a law to protect the welfare of animals.
