Dog beaten and abused for months finally rescued

- Malaysia -

A witness that saw a dog who was being abused since January 2021, finally stepped in last month and alerted the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The SPCA Kota Kinabalu wrote in a Facebook post of May 31, that they were made aware of this horrific case on May 22, when the witness contacted them and showed them evidence.

According to the witness, the poor dog was being frequently beaten with a water hose and the abuse had been going on since January 23, 2021.

As reported by the SPCA KK, when the witness was "unable to endure it any longer", she decided to film the incidents for evidence.

According to the SPCA Kota Kinabalu, the witness confronted the abuser but the coward angrily picked up his dog, put the furbaby in his vehicle and drove off.

On May 23, 2021, the SPCA KK Inspectorate Team responded to the address given by the witness but neither the abuser, nor the dog were there.

At that point the SPCA filed a police report including the witness’ name and the evidence submitted.

The SPCA said that thanks to the police’s prompt intervention, the dog was removed and is now safe in the care of the SPCA KK.

The organization said that this case is being investigated by the police and added that anyone found guilty of animal cruelty will face a penalty of maximum RM100,000 ($24,200) fine or 3 years in jail or both.

I will contact the SPCA KK to inquire about the well-being of the furbaby and the identity of the offender.

I will post an update if I get a response.
