D.C. Humane Rescue Alliance offers $5,000 reward for information in an animal cruelty case

Early Saturday Morning, April 4, officers with the Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA) found an injured male Boxer mix named Mickey, lying in shrubbery in the area of 21 Atlantic Street SW.


Mickey was immediately rushed to an emergency veterinarian.


It was determined that the poor furbaby had multiple broken ribs and problems breathing due to the physical abuse he suffered.


As an investigation was opened, Humane Law Enforcement officers with HRA is offering a reward of $5,000 in exchange for information leading to a criminal conviction of the person(s) responsible for this horrific act of animal cruelty.


Chris Schindler, vice president of field services at the Humane Rescue Alliance, said: “It’s heartbreaking to imagine the pain this dog endured at the hands of his abuser.


Adding “We’re hopeful our reward will help our officers gather useful information in solving this case to bring justice for Mickey.”


Anyone who recognizes Mickey or has information related to this case, please come forward.


Mickey cannot tell us who did this to him, so we’ll have to speak for him.
