CHARLYNN MARSEILLE facing charges after her dog arrived at a veterinary hospital in critical condition
- Florida, USA -
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office arrested 33-year-old CHARLYNN MARSEILLE (pictured).
According to an affidavit, on the afternoon of October 2, 2026, Sgt. Bullock and Sgt. Sharpe with Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control (ACC) were dispatched to Access Specialty Animal Hospital, located at 10465 Southern Boulevard in Royal Palm Beach, to investigate a suspected animal cruelty incident.
Upon arrival, the investigators learned from hospital staff that a “severely emaciated” Yorkshire Terrier had been brought to the hospital in “critical condition with a significantly decreased heart rate, a heavy flea infestation, and initially reported possible head trauma.”
The affidavit identified the furvictim as a 7-year-old male named King.
Sgt. Bullock and Sgt. Sharpe spoke with King's attending veterinarian, Dr. Gina M. Zeitlin, about his condition. According to the affidavit, Dr. Zeitlin reported that King arrived in “critical, life-threatening condition and was actively deteriorating and dying.”
Dr. Zeitlin described King as “laterally recumbent, obtunded, nonresponsive, severely hypothermic, and experiencing respiratory and cardiac distress.” His heart rate was approximately 20 to 30 beats per minute, and he was unable to breathe on his own.
Dr. Zeitlin's examination revealed severe emaciation, with a body condition score of 1 out of 9 on the Purina body condition scale. King was also heavily matted and infested with fleas, with areas of hair loss on his head, face, and limbs. Dr. Zeitlin described his physical condition as consistent with significant chronic deterioration that had developed over weeks or months rather than a sudden illness.
Veterinary personnel initiated emergency lifesaving measures, including intubation, assisted ventilation, oxygen supplementation, active warming, placement of an intravenous catheter, administration of medications, and intravenous dextrose. According to the affidavit, King showed limited neurological improvement. Despite the efforts to save his precious life, his prognosis remained extremely grave due to the severity of his condition and the extent of his deterioration.
The affidavit states that Dr. Zeitlin told the investigators that the individuals who brought King to the hospital, identified as MARSEILLE and Isaac Pericles, “declined the hospital's requested level three stabilization because they lacked funds.” According to the affidavit, Dr. Zeitlin also reported that the individuals declined additional treatment options discussed with them. They ultimately elected euthanasia.
Following King's euthanasia, hospital personnel contacted ACC.
Dr. Zeitlin told investigators that appropriate care could have prevented the conditions she observed and concluded that King had suffered for an extended period.
According to the affidavit, MARSEILLE's failure to provide care, resulting in excessive or repeated unnecessary pain or suffering, established probable cause to charge her with one felony count of aggravated animal cruelty.
MARSEILLE was arrested on October 17, 2026. At the time of writing, records indicate that she had been released from the Palm Beach County Jail after posting bond. According to court records, MARSEILLE is scheduled to appear in Palm Beach Circuit Court on November 14, 2026, at 10:30 a.m.
A Previous Complaint Involving King
The affidavit also references a complaint dated June 10, 2023, involving King. According to the affidavit, the complaint alleged that King “was left alone for days, potentially without food, and was crying.” The affidavit further states that “associated photographs appeared to depict the same dog involved in this investigation.”
