The Tybee Island Police Department has now in custody 27-years-old CANDY SELENA MARBAN (pictured below) after she was being sought for aggravated cruelty to animals.

MARBAN is accused of throwing a defenseless puppy into the ocean.

Police said in a news release that on the afternoon of Sunday, September 12, police received a 911 call reporting that an injured puppy had been thrown into the ocean.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the puppy curled up in the sand and nursing an obvious injury.

They then made contact with the furbaby’s guardian, MARBAN, who told them that the dog had been injured during an accident approximately a week prior and that she couldn’t afford to take the puppy to the vet.

Officers issued MARBAN a city ordinance citation for cruelty to animals and took the puppy into protective custody.

Members of the Tybee Island Police Department then transported the animal for emergency medical treatment in Savannah. After a thorough examination, the veterinarian determined that the extent of the animal’s injuries was so severe that the only recourse would be euthanasia”, stated the release.

With this new information, detectives secured a warrant for MARBAN on the felony charge of aggravated cruelty to animals.

On Monday, September 20, Tybee police posted on their Facebook page a wanted poster for MARBAN asking for the public’s assistance in locating her.

That post was shared over 2,000 times in less than 24 hours, leading to abundance of tips in regards to MARBAN and her whereabouts.

MARBAN was successfully arrested on Tuesday, September 21.
