BRIAN ANDREW LAIRD shot his dog killing him instantly after drinking twelve beers

- Virginia, USA -

Early Friday morning, April 3, deputies with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in the 200 block of Pondview Lane in Winchester about an accidental killing of a dog.

At the residence, deputies questioned 62-year-old BRIAN ANDREW LAIRD (picture below).

LAIRD told deputies he was angry at the dog for pooping on the floor.

At first LAIRD said that he pulled the trigger thinking the gun was not loaded, but then he confessed and said that he pointed a .30-30 rifle at the dog’s head and pulled the trigger killing the furbaby instantly.

Deputy Anthony R. Ament wrote in his report that LAIRD said there were two cartridges left in the chamber of the rifle and one spent round.

LAIRD also told deputies he drank about 12 beers before killing the pup.

Lt. Carlton Streit said the rifle was confiscated as evidence.

BRIAN ANDREW LAIRD was charged with cruelty to animals, maiming or killing an animal, and reckless handling of a firearm.

He is set to be arraigned July 24.
