After a female Pitbull was found abandoned at the Pahrump landfill on Saturday, December 24, 2022, the Nye County Sheriff's Office took to social media to get help from the community in finding the furbaby’s guardian.
In a Facebook post the sheriff’s office said: “This sweet dog was found severely dehydrated and barely alive at the dead animal pit at the dump in Pahrump. It appears the animal was dumped and left to die.”
A heartbreaking update later advised that the furbaby had “passed away despite the doctors best efforts.”
KTNV reports that James Kahl was taking the trash as he normally does when he found the dog and alerted the police. According to KTNV, rescuers named the Pitbull Cindy Lou.
In connection with the abandonment of the VOICELESS VICTIM, deputies arrested 85-years-old APOLONIO LOPEZ ANICETO (pictured).
In a news release, the sheriff’s office said that a tip led deputies to ANICETO’s residence and from an investigation it emerged that ANICETO took the Pitbull to the dump and abandoned her.
During the arrest, deputies discovered another dog. The furbaby was in bad shape and suffering some sort of unknown medical issue so Animal Control rushed the furbaby to an animal emergency room in Las Vegas for treatment. In a subsequent update, the sheriff’s office advised that the dog “had to be euthanized due to being in critical, irreversible condition as a result of anti-freeze poisoning.”
Consequently, while ANICETO was in the Nye County Detention Center on the charge of felony animal abuse, he was booked on an additional charge of felony animal abuse.
Online records show ANCETO was released after posting bond!
According to KTNV, Mr. Kahl and his family plan to hold a memorial service for Cindy Lou.
