The Pembroke Pines Police Department announced the arrest of 25-years-old COREY VAUGHN DACRES (pictured).

On the evening of Sunday, July 9, 2023, DACRES got involved in a domestic dispute with his family members at their apartment at the Advenir at San Tropez apartment complex near Northwest 78th Terrace and Northwest 1st Street.

At one point DACRES left the apartment with the family dog, a white female 6-year-old Pitbull terrier named Unity.

DACRES walked to the complex community swimming pool and threw Unity over the locked 5-foot fence surrounding the pool area. He then jumped the fence and got into the pool “where he willfully and maliciously drowned the dog”, said police.

According to the arrest affidavit obtained by Voice For Us, DACRES returned to the apartment after murdering Unity and told his mother: “I killed the dog.”

Police were called and responding officers found Unity at the bottom of the swimming pool “in three feet of water”, stated the report.

Unity’s body was extracted from the pool and pronounced dead.

After an investigation determined that DACRES “intentionally drowned his family’s dog”, he was placed under arrest.

Further investigation revealed that the pool was not open to the public and had been locked up and closed since the Covid19 pandemic”, stated the report.

Officers examined and photographed DACRES’ leg and did not find any injuries and/or marks consistent with a dog bite. The affidavit does not elaborate as to whether DACRES claimed that he was bitten by Unity.

The murderer was transported to the Broward County Jail on one third-degree felony count of aggravated animal cruelty.

On Monday, July 10, 2023, DACRES appeared in court and was ordered held on $35,000 bond and told by a judge he must undergo a mental health evaluation.

Police said this case remains an active criminal investigation, and any additional

information will be released upon availability.

Had Unity been a human, this scum would be facing murder charges, but clearly, to lawmakers, not all lives matter the same way!

I cannot begin to imagine what a person goes through when their beloved furbaby is murdered by someone who swore to protect and serve!

Not just in Lorain County Ohio, but across the globe people are furious, indignant, disappointed, and most of all, heartbroken by what happened to an innocent 3-year-old Labrador/golden retriever mix named Dixie.

Ms. Tammie Kerns recounted with 3News what happened on Sunday, July 2, 2023.

It was early afternoon when four of her dogs got scared by nearby fireworks and got out of the house, so with the help of her daughter Mellenie she tried to round them up to get them back inside the home on Oberlin Avenue near 8th Street, Lorain.

Some news outlets reported that the dogs got loose as Tammie and her daughter were getting ready to leave to run some errands.

Body camera footage of the incident has been released and calls for justice for Dixie are growing louder than ever.

According to Tammie, a Lorain Police officer, identified as ELLIOTT PALMER, pulled up to her home, exited the vehicle, and told her and her daughter to get the dogs under control.

During the commotion, Dixie ran out into the street.

The graphic footage shows Dixie wagging her tail while playfully running toward her murderer. PALMER claimed he feared for his life and instead of firing a shot in the air, he fired at Dixie. The furbaby then collapsed and ran away into the street while she was bleeding. Sadly, Dixie died at the scene. Dixie did not die right away and did not die comforted by her family because as Tammie walked towards PALMER, he ordered her to stay away from her dog. In the distance Dixie can be seen dragging herself toward the sidewalk, alone, frightened, and confused.

Tammie rightfully told 3News: “After she was shot one time in the street, he should have just let it go and let us get the dog and take her where she needed to be treated. But he didn't do that. She was crawling -- useless, helpless -- in the street. He continued shooting her as she was trying to come to safety, and he just kept shooting her three more times after the first time.”

The video has been watched countless times and shared across the globe. Despite what we can all see, Captain Michael Failing, Acting Chief of Police, said in a media release that “an officer of the Lorain Police Department used force on a dog.”

I call what I saw murder!

On Friday, July 7, 2023, a Justice for Dixie rally took place outside the Lorain Police Department. The rally was held to show support for Dixie’s family, and to call for the removal of her murderer from the Lorain Police Department.

News 5 reports that Lorain Police Lt. Jacob Morris spoke with the crowd and said: “It’s great to see the concern from the community. It doesn’t have to be flattering, but it tells us exactly what concerns our community. I want to offer our condolences to the Kerns family; regardless of the situation, they're dealing with the loss of a family member, and it hurts to even say that we were involved in that.” Lt. Morris went on to say: “I know there is outrage, hurt, anger, but all of this makes a difference. We hope that it can make us better in the long run. This is about Dixie, but it certainly does open some doors up of conversations that need to be had.”

Dixie’s family repeatedly made a point that they do not approve any form of violence or threats against PALMER.

According to News 5, Jack Bradley, Lorain’s Mayor, told the news agency that PALMER is working desk duty while an internal investigation is ongoing.

WKYC reports that Lorain police said PALMER “is a young officer who is only been on the force two to three years.” Meanwhile Dixie’s family rightfully wants to sue the Department “if justice is not served.”

On Sunday, July 9, 2023, a vigil took place to remember Dixie. As reported by The Chronicle, Tammie said the turnout was further evidence of how much support the family has and how their story has touched people. Tammie said: “I am speechless, I am amazed. I want to thank everyone in our community and outside that came out today to show their support.”

I echo Tammie’s words, “He should lose his job. He should go to jail. He should rot.”

The DeLand Police Department announced the arrest of 55-years-old KEVIN PROULX (pictured) on felony animal cruelty charges.

On June 16, 2023, police responded to PROULX’s home on 406 Pursley Drive for a well-being check after a report of dogs barking.

Upon arrival, responding officer Watts saw two dogs in the front yard of the residence. According to a criminal complaint, the dogs were barking and appeared to be scared. Officer Watts knocked on the door in an attempt to make contact with the homeowner but no one answered. She said a dog was inside the property and was barking. As officer Watts walked to the side of the home, she found a hound mix puppy lying under the opening of an air conditioning pipe that dripped water. Sadly, the 9-month-old puppy was deceased. Officer Watts reported that the puppy “was very skinny” and his/her mouth was under the opening of the pipe as if he/she was “attempting to catch the water and then passed away.”

Officer Watts then went into the backyard of a neighbor so that she could look into PROULX’s backyard and saw three more dogs. Two of them were in the yard and the other one was inside the property.

All five dogs were very skinny and there was no food or water in the backyard.

After several attempts to knock on the door, PROULX “stumbled out of the garage with feces on his feet”, stated the complaint. Officer Watts reported that PROULX “advised he was having a heart attack and wanted to go to the hospital.”

DeLand Animal Control and Volusia County Animal Control responded to the scene to help catch the dogs.

Animal Control Officers estimated that weeks or even months’ worth of feces was in the residence.

In the criminal complaint the dogs were identified as:

A brown and white female German Shorthair Pointer approximately 2-3 years old named Kiara.

A male gray Weimaraner approximately 3-4 years old named Ghost.

Three hound mix puppies, approximately 9 months old, two males and a female.

All five dogs were transported to the DeLand Police Department’s kennel while the deceased puppy was taken to the DeLand Animal Hospital.

Officer Watts did a walk-through the residence to make sure there were no other dogs and found trash all over the place, “empty bottles of liquor”, and feces and urine indicating that the dogs were not being let out to go potty. There was no food or water inside the home and the residence was “trashed from the dogs tearing everything apart from being stuck inside.”

Officer Watts then went to the hospital to talk to PROULX about his dogs and he “advised he would willingly surrender all of his dogs to the DeLand Police Department.”

If the scum had done this sooner, the pup who was found deceased could have been saved!!!!

At that point Officer Watts read PROULX his Miranda rights.

On June 20, 2023, DeLand Animal Control Officer Fiore took Kiara, Ghost, and the three puppies to the DeLand Animal Hospital for checkups.

Results showed that Ghost’s body condition score was 3 out of 9 with prominent ribs, spine, and hip bones, and moderate muscle loss. Ghost weighed only 59 pounds.

Kiara’s body condition score was “3/9 but borderline 2/9”. Kiara had calculus and enlarged nipples consistent with a prior pregnancy. Kiara weighed only 37pounds.

The three live puppies were all underweight. Their hip and spine bones were showing, as were their ribs. Vets also reported almost complete lack of body fat.

As for the deceased puppy, the criminal complaint stated that he/she “was presented dead on arrival. Necropsy was not an option due to elapsed time from death.”

The medical report determined that the dogs were in the condition they were in due to lack of proper nutrition and water. “The condition was chronic in nature. The dogs’ necessary care, both feeding and otherwise, was neglected.”

PROULX was arrested on Thursday, July 6, 2023, and booked into the Volusia County Correction Center on six counts of felony animal cruelty.

Online records show this filthy drunk was released the same day after posting bond.

His arraignment scheduled for July 7, 2023, was cancelled and PROULX is slated to be in court on July 27, 2023, at 1:30 p.m.

Police said Kiara, Ghost, and the three puppies were taken in by the Florida Pointer Rescue.

PROULX said the puppies did not have names, so I took the liberty of naming the deceased furbaby Tulip for the tribute image.
