MARKECIO L. GRAHAM arrested for starving his dogs – One was found dead

I am overjoyed to let you know that Roselyn was adopted!

MAS tell  me “Roselyn got adopted by a great family at 12 Hours of Christmas.” The amazing family has another female Pitbull  so Roselyn will be playing and have fun with her new sister Lily.

 


~ Update: November 30, 2023

 

I heard back from MAS and no additional information could be disclosed regarding the deceased furbaby as the investigation is still active.

 

With regard to the furbaby who was found alive, Roselyn, I was told that she is approximately 1 year old and “her weight on intake was 32.8 lbs.”

 

I was further told:

“Today, Roselyn had:

Schirmer Tear Test: Right eye: 20; Left eye: 13 (She was very squirmy because she understandably didn’t like having her eye poked, but these results could indicate a mild/early dry eye condition)

Fecal float: Positive for whipworms (she will most likely get prescribed Panacur for that tomorrow)

Clinic staff experience with her was that she is friendly. She has bilateral scarring at the base of both ears, suggestive of healed fly strike. She is also underweight, and we plan to recheck her weight in 7 and 21 days.

She did well in playgroup! She was good with introductions but often preferred to be on her own.”

Authorities arrested 28-years-old MARKECIO L. GRAHAM (pictured) and charged him with felony aggravated cruelty to animals.


On the afternoon of Sunday, November 26, 2023, Memphis Animal Services received an animal cruelty call and responded to a property on Palmetto Avenue, Breedlove Street, to investigate.


In the backyard of the residence, a MAS officer found two Pitbulls. Sadly, one was deceased and decomposed. The other one had been feeding on the decomposed Pitbull.

According to the MAS officer, there were no signs of shelter, food, or water for the Voiceless Victims.


GRAHAM admitted the Pitbulls were his and said that he last fed them three weeks ago.


GRAHAM was placed under arrest and booked into the Shelby County Jail on a $15,000 bond.

Records show he is still in custody and he is expected to appear in court on November 29, 2023, at 9:00 a.m.


Authorities did not disclose the name of the deceased furbaby, so I took the liberty of naming him/her Flower for the tribute image. Should his/her given name be made public, I will rectify it accordingly.

KIERRA LATRICE STURGIS and LEMOND LYDELL WILLIAMS SR arrested for animal cruelty and neglect

The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 31-years-old KIERRA LATRICE STURGIS and 47-years-old LEMOND LYDELL WILLIAMS SR (both pictured – via Facebook).


In a media release, the sheriff's office said that on October 2, 2023, Worcester County Animal Control responded to a property in the 500 block of Bonneville Avenue in Pocomoke after receiving an animal complaint.


On the front porch of the residence, officers saw a crate with two dogs inside. Sadly, one of them was deceased.


The investigation and evidence at the scene indicated that there were more neglected dogs but STURGIS and WILLIAMS, the residents, refused to meet with animal control officers.


The sheriff’s office said that with the assistance of the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation, a search and seize warrant was authored and approved.


Once inside the property, officers found two more dogs. According to the release, the furvictims were “extremely emaciated and in poor condition.” There was no food or water for the poor souls.


Worcester County Animal Control removed the Voiceless Victims who are now being treated by a veterinarian.


STURGIS and WILLIAMS were charged with thirty-six (36) counts of animal cruelty and animal neglect, including four (4) felony charges of aggravated animal cruelty.


Online records show that STURGIS and WILLIAMS are being held at the Worcester County Detention Center without bond and are awaiting trial.

According to court records, STURGIS and WILLIAMS are expected to appear at Worcester District Court on December 29, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Gerald V. Purnell.

JASMINE VELASQUEZ arrested for punching, kicking, and hitting with a glass bottle her service dog

I heard back from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office and learned that the case was scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on Monday, December 18, 2023, “however it was resolved by a plea the same day.”  VELASQUEZ was sentenced to two years in the House of Correction suspended for two years “with the conditions she attend anger management, surrender ownership of her dog, and not own any other animals.”

 

This essentially means that VELASQUEZ will be on probation for two years and will need to comply with those conditions, if not, she serves two years in the House of Correction.

 

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office further told me that VELASQUEZ “signed the animal surrender form in court that day.”

The Boston Police Department arrested a female who was witnessed kicking, punching, and repeatedly striking her dog with a glass bottle.


According to a press release by Boston police, on the evening of Tuesday, November 21, 2023, officers “were conducting a walk and talk in the area of the Boston Common when they could hear the noise of a crying dog.”


A passerby advised officers that a female, later identified as 27-years-old JASMINE VELASQUEZ (pictured), was beating a dog in the area of 131 Tremont Street.


Police said that as officers approached VELASQUEZ, “they observed the suspect kick the dog”, so they quickly took the Voiceless Victim, a 5-year-old male Australian Cattle named Rocky, and put him in a safe spot as there was broken glass and unknown liquid on the ground.


As part of the investigation, officers interviewed multiple witnesses and they all gave the same version of the facts. They all stated that that VELASQUEZ punched and kicked Rocky and repeatedly struck him with a glass bottle.


VELASQUEZ was placed under arrest and charged with animal cruelty and assault and battery on a police officer.


According to police, Animal Control took custody of Rocky.


On Wednesday, November 22, 2023, VELASQUEZ appeared at Boston Municipal Court for her arraignment.


Prosecutor Sam Jones for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office told the judge that police obtained street camera footage and officers were able to see that VELASQUEZ “hit the dog with the open right hand one time, hit the dog with the glass bottle eleven times, and kick the dog three times.” He went on to say that when VELASQUEZ was in the booking cell after her arrest, she was uncooperative with officers and at one point she spat at one of the officers.

Jones requested VELASQUEZ be held on $1,500 cash bail and that she stay away from witnesses connected to the case and have no animals in her custody.


VELASQUEZ’s defense attorney, Denise Moore, told the judge that her client lives at the Pine Street Inn and has a four-month-old son who is in state custody. In her pathetic attempt to defend her evil client, Moore went on to tell the judge that VELASQUEZ is not working at this time because she is disabled. VELASQUE “fractured her tibia last year and she’s still recovering”, said Moore and then added: “She still has balance and ambulation issues. That’s why she has the service dog to assist her with ambulation.”


The judge told Moore he read the word “kicking” on the documents and asked her: “What am I missing?”


VELASQUEZ sobbed and cried the whole time and while in tears she told the judge that she had to go to see her son. VELASQUEZ remains behind bars and her pre-trial hearing was scheduled for December 18, 2023.


VELASQUEZ, you must have kicked Rocky with your good leg then….. If you have balance problems, I suggest a stick! You had a chance to be in court and show your pathetic self to the judge. Rocky, however, could not be in court and cry before a judge. Animals cannot describe their pain and abuse. Keep THAT in mind the next time that you demand respect for your useless life!
