~ Update: August 9, 2024 – New Mexico, USA

On August 1, 2024, 33-year-old HEATHER AUDITOR and 36-year-old LESTER PAUL RICHMOND (both pictured), were tracked down and located at a bus stop in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

RICHMOND was arrested after he failed to appear at his sentencing hearing on July 30, 2024. He is being held in the Doña Ana County Detention Center and awaiting extradition to Arizona.

The duo were arrested back in July 2023, in connection with the death of an innocent Husky who was found with his/her mouth taped shut and had a cord wrapped around his/her neck.

AUDITOR and RICHMOND were booked at the Maricopa County Jail each on one count of animal cruelty. Additionally, AUDITOR was charged with one count of hindering prosecution.

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell then sent the case back to the Scottsdale Police Department for additional review, and RICHMOND was released.

In December 2023, the Maricopa Attorney’s Office indicted RICHMOND on one count of intentionally subjecting a domestic animal to cruel mistreatment, a class five felony. Under Arizona law, a class five felony is the highest level of punishment for animal abuse a person can face.

However, when the Maricopa Attorney’s Office attempted to proceed with the case, RICHMOND could not be found, a search was issued to locate him, and Maricopa County Attorney Mitchell reached out to the public for assistance (Video).

On February 16, 2024, RICHMOND was located and arrested in Troy, Alabama.

Back then, Maricopa County Attorney Mitchell said in a press release: “My office is grateful to the Scottsdale Police Department, the public, and the Troy Police Department for their efforts in bringing this defendant to justice. His extradition is expected in the next 30 days, once he is in Maricopa County we can proceed with prosecution.”

And now he is in New Mexico…….

Well, what can I say? If you keep releasing him, what do you expect?

The Scottsdale Police Department arrested 32-years-old HEATHER AUDITOR and 35-years-old LESTER PAUL RICHMOND (both pictured) in connection with a Husky puppy who was found dead in June 2023.

In a news release police said that an investigation was launched on June 27, 2023, after the puppy’s body was discovered by someone who was walking in an alley near Miller Road and Latham Street in Scottsdale. Police said the furbaby appeared to have his/her “mouth taped shut.” Scottsdale Police tells me the puppy was estimated to be eight-twelve weeks old. His/her name and gender could not be confirmed.

As part of the investigation, police canvassed the neighborhood, interviewed residents, and looked for surveillance cameras that may have captured the area where the Voiceless Victim was found. Eventually, they were able to find a video depicting RICHMOND’s vehicle “in the alley during the time frame the puppy was left there”, stated the release.

Not only were investigators able to identify RICHMOND as the registered owner of the vehicle, but they were also able to obtain video surveillance of him and AUDITOR talking about getting rid of the puppy.

AZFamily reports that court paperwork states that security video from a neighbor showed the driver of the car with an AZ Pet Friendly license plate turning into the alley with his arm out of the window while holding a cord that touched the ground. At the end of the cord was an “object” the same shape and size as a puppy that was being dragged along. The vehicle stopped for a few seconds in the same spot where the furbaby was found. The driver was RICHMOND.

Police said AUDITOR works as a cashier at a Circle K nearby on McKellips, and after the incident, security footage from inside the store showed RICHMOND saying: “I dropped our friend off little ****”.

Police said AUDITOR and RICHMOND were arrested on Thursday, July 20, 2023, during a traffic stop near Miller Road and Pierce Street.

Later on, a search warrant was served at their residence where additional evidence relating to the case was collected. The red tape used to muzzle the puppy’s mouth was found at the couple’s home.

According to AZFamily, RICHMOND denied his involvement in the death of the puppy but AUDITOR admitted the puppy was hers and that she had brough him/her home a month prior.

AUDITOR and RICHMOND were booked at the Maricopa County Jail each on one count of animal cruelty.

Additionally, AUDITOR was charged with one count of hindering prosecution.

On July 7, 2023, the Hollywood Police Department arrested 27-years-old SASHA ALEXANDRA ALISA KOVAL (pictured) after she admitted that she intentionally left her dog in the car while she went to work. The furbaby inevitably passed away!

According to a press release by Hollywood Police obtained by Voice For Us, it all started on June 22, 2023, when police launched an investigation into tips about animal neglect in the 1800 block of Rodman Street. At the location, officers found a truck with a deceased brindle Pitbull laying on the floorboard. On that occasion, police did not locate any witnesses.

An investigation led to KOVAL who during questioning, “confessed to intentionally leaving her dog inside a vehicle while she went to work the night of June 18, 2023,” stated the release. When she returned home, she left the dog in the truck and she did not care to check on the Voiceless Victim.

Hollywood police said that when KOVAL woke up on the afternoon of the following day, June 19, 2023, she naturally found the furbaby lifeless.

The poor and helpless dog was confined in the vehicle with the sweltering heat of summer for roughly twenty hours until he/she finally succumbed to the extreme heat.

KOVAL was arrested and booked into the Broward County Jail but at time of writing, she does not appear in the arrest search database maintained by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

I was however able to find her multiple Linked In accounts, and her court records which show that she is facing one third-degree felony count of aggravated animal cruelty.

Authorities did not disclose the furbaby’s name, so I took the liberty of naming him/her Cyclamen for the tribute image. Should his/her given name be made public, I will rectify it accordingly.

Clearly, this poor dog was treated like he/she was an unwanted and useless item.

KOVAL could have done the humane thing to take him/her to a shelter instead of taking it upon herself to end the furbaby’s life!

I hope that the judge who will preside over this case is just as merciless as she was!

~ Updates: June 7, 2024

Peoria County Judge Paul Gilfillan sentenced 42-year-old STEPHEN DWAIN KALB (pictured), to seventy (70) days in jail, with credit for the three days he’s already served.

On April 17, 2024, during a pre-trial hearing in Peoria County Court, KALB pled guilty to one count of animal cruelty.

After his release, KALB will serve two years on probation, and during that time, he cannot “own” or be in "possession" of any animals.

As for the co-defendant in this case, 43-year-old STACY R. MUELLER (also pictured), on December 6, 2023, she pled guilty to three misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty and one felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals.

In March 2024, Judge Paul Gilfillan gifted MUELLER with probation!

Despite prosecutors’ recommendation for prison time, Gilfillan sentenced MUELLER to two years’ probation. MUELLER was ordered to not “own” any animals. If she fails to  comply, she could spend ONLY sixty (60) days behind bars.

~ Update: August 4, 2023

A second arrest has been made in the animal cruelty case for which 42-years-old STACY R. MUELLER (pictured), a Princeville dog groomer, was arrested back in May.

On Friday, July 28, 2023, authorities arrested 41-years-old STEPHEN DWAIN KALB (also pictured).

Back in May, after MUELER’s arrest, Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins said he was looking for another individual in connection with the case but did not release their identity.

KALB was located at the east Peoria Walmart and transported to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office on one felony count of aggravated animal cruelty. KALB admitted to investigators that he was aware of the animals’ living conditions.

WMBD reports that according to the arrest report, “Kalb said that he can’t clean litter boxes and that Mueller just decided to lock the cats in kennels. Kalb said that Mueller would keep the cats in the kennels for a month without them being taken out or cleaned.”

KALB was released the following day after posting a $1,200 bond. Online court records show his arraignment is slated to take place at Peoria County Circuit Court on August 30, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. before judge Sean Donahue.

As for MUELLER, according to court records, her felony case is set for trial in October 2023.

On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, a Peoria County Grand Jury indicted 42-years-old STACY R. MUELLER (pictured), a Princeville dog groomer, on one felony count of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals along with three misdemeanor counts of Cruelty to Animals.

Ciproud.com reports that “The three counts of cruelty to animals include cruel treatment or starvation of the dogs, identified as Cookies, Cappuccino, and Ziggy.”

On May 11, 2023, the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office was called to a property on 219 W. South Street, Princeville, to assist Peoria County Animal Protection Services (PCAPS) with an animal abuse case.

In a locked shed, deputies discovered twelve dogs. Sadly, one was dead. The live dogs were malnourished and covered in feces and flies. The temperature inside the shed was 110-degrees and there was no food or water for the Voiceless Victims.

Inside the residence, officials found more dogs. Back in May the Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins said: “….and there were signs of malnutrition with all the animals found.”

Sheriff Watkins said PCAPS removed a total of twenty-one living animals from the property.

In a statement, Sheriff Watkins said: “These were horrible conditions that these dogs and cats were living in. No animal or human could survive in that type of environment for an extended amount of time.”

MUELLER was arrested on May 11, 2023, and the following day she was charged with twelve counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, a Class 4 Felony.

Back in May Sheriff Watkins said the Peoria County Sheriff's Office was “looking for another individual involved in this crime. Their name will be released at a later time.
