The LaSalle Police Department arrested 20-years-old LUCAS R. RAMEY (pictured), in connection with the death of a puppy.

On the afternoon of Friday, September 2, officers responded to a property in the 500 block of Bucklin Street in LaSalle, regarding the suspicious death of a dog.

Upon arrival, they discovered a lifeless puppy wrapped in a trash bag.

The furbaby, believed to be only four months old, appeared to be a mix of a German Shepherd and Blue Heeler.

From an investigation it emerged RAMEY had strangled the furbaby who subsequently died due to the injuries that RAMEY inflicted on her.

RAMEY told police he was upset with the puppy after she kept pooping around the house.

The filthy murderer, of Mendota, was placed under arrest on a felony animal cruelty charge and transported to LaSalle County Jail.

On Sunday, September 4, 2022, RAMEY appeared in LaSalle County Circuit Court before Judge Todd L. Martin for a bond hearing.

Bond was set at $50,000 and the murderer needs to post $5,000 to be released from jail.

Online arrest records show RAMEY is still in custody.

If RAMEY posts bond, he is prohibited from returning to the home he was visiting on Bucklin Street where he murdered the puppy and having contact with the puppy’s guardian.

According to court records, RAMEY is expected back in court on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 9:00 a.m.

LaSalle Police Chief Michael Smudzinski said: “Animals do not ask for much in life other than human affection and a safe and sheltered home. This type of grotesque behavior needs to have consequences.”

Let’s hope the judge feels the same and will let RAMEY rot in prison!

On Thursday, September 1, 2022, the Groves Police Department announced the arrest of 42-years-old MICHELLE MARIE BRADFORD (pictured) following an investigation into the discovery of a deceased puppy.

Back in July 2022, police said in a press release that on July 13, 2022, officers assisted Groves Animal Control on a cruelty to animal call in the 3100 block of Taft, Groves, where a deceased puppy was discovered in a wire kennel on the side of the residence. “The kennel was located in direct sunlight with no shade, food, or water. The puppy was not breathing and rigor mortis had begun to set in”, stated the release.

Inside the kennel officers saw a small bowl that had no food or water and, on that date, the National Weather Service had issued a heat advisory with a heat index between 108 and 112 degrees.

Officers located the owner of the residence who denied having any knowledge that the puppy was at the home. “She claimed that the dog belonged to her daughter who lives in Port Arthur and had no knowledge it had been dropped off”, said police.

According to the release, a neighbor reported that her stepson took a video of the puppy at 2:42 p.m. and the puppy was still alive. The neighbor said she reported what she saw to the authorities.

Animal control eventually took possession of the deceased puppy and took him/her to veterinarian Dr. Blake Foskey for necropsy. Results showed the poor soul died of a heat stroke with subsequent disseminated intravascular coagulation.

Back in July police explained in the press release: “Unfortunately, we could not make an arrest at the time, due to the fact that the offense was a misdemeanor and did not occur in the police officer’s presence, so it has to be investigated. Our objective here is to establish who was actually responsible for this inhumane act of cruelty and neglect and hold them accountable. In this process, we’ll be interviewing suspects, witnesses and gathering any additional evidence to support our case. Once we complete our investigation, the case will be submitted to the Jefferson County DA’s office for review.”

After more than fifty days, police said that “Groves Detectives Investigation revealed that a resident of the home, Michelle Bradford, had knowledge of the dog being dropped off at the home.”

According to police, during an interview BRADFORD admitted to investigators that she forgot about the puppy being left outside.

Detectives have submitted the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office for review and the DA accepted the felony charge of cruelty to non-livestock animals, which is a 3rd degree felony.

A warrant was granted, and Judge Benjamin Collins Sr. issued a $25,000 bond.

Once the warrant was active, police located and arrested BRADFORD at a home in Port Arthur.

The despicable female was transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility and later released after posting bond. According to 12NewsNow, BRADFORD “must wear an ankle monitor.”

12NewsNow reports that a candlelight memorial has been planned for the puppy and will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. across the street from the Groves Activity Center at 6150 39th Street.

BRADFORD, if animal cruelty was taken seriously, you would still be in jail awaiting trial.

Freedom is so precious that TRASH like you should not be entitled to it!

After your sentence, whatever it will be, you will resume your life and go on.

That innocent puppy is dead for ever and if it was up to me, you should be too!!!

- New York, USA -

On Friday, July 29, the New York City Office of the Sheriff and the ASPCA Animal Rescue Unit rescued several abused and neglected Husky dogs found to be living in deplorable conditions on the 100 block of Van Duzer Street in Tompkinsville, a neighborhood in northeastern Staten Island in New York City.

As part of an investigation into animal cruelty, officials showed up with a search warrant and as reported by silive.com, a Sheriff’s office deputy used a bolt cutter to cut open a lock to enter the lot in in a fenced-in area and shielded by a tarp and barbed-wire.

Officials discovered and removed a total of 24 Huskies, 16 adult dogs and 8 puppies.

Most of the dogs were found inside trailers covered in feces and urine.

Underneath the trailers, a mother dog protected her babies in the only shadowy area available. Sadly, one of her babies did not make it.

One of the adult dogs was severely injured and was taken to an emergency animal hospital.

silive.com reports that in a statement, Chief Derek Skuzenski of the Brooklyn and Staten Island Sheriff’s Office, explained how they found out about the dogs.

We received a complaint yesterday of 20-30 Huskies in this area that were malnourished and abused and neglected, so we came in and we investigated it and brought our findings to the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office. The Richmond County District Attorney’s Office assisted us in petitioning Criminal Court for a search warrant under agricultural law and we got that search warrant printed. So, we are conducting that search right now and part of the order is for ASPCA to come with us… to take custody of all the dogs so that way they get the proper care and medical treatment that they need.”

In connection with this case, New York City Sheriff’s deputies arrested 54-years-old VICTOR QUINTEROS (pictured).

The main charge against QUINTEROS is felony aggravated cruelty to animals, in addition to 24 counts of misdemeanor neglect of impounded animals and 24 counts of inappropriate shelter for dogs.

On an unrelated note, QUINTEROS is also accused of punching a 40-year-old woman in the face after suspecting her of peeking into his property. The incident took place weeks before the animal cruelty related raid. In relation to this offense, online court records show that QUINTEROS is due to appear in Richmond Criminal Court on August 31, 2022, at 9:00 a.m.
