On the early afternoon of Thursday, June 30, 2022, the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins and Grayson County Animal Control Officer Todd Saltsman, about 60-years-old GREG K. RIGDON (pictured), “having numerous dogs on his property that were not being fed or watered.”

A deputy with the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office was then dispatched to a property on the 400-block of Indian Creek Road and upon arrival, the deputy made contact with RIGDON who agreed to show his animals.

According to a release obtained by Voice For Us, the deputy discovered “multiple dogs, severely malnourished, with no food or water.”

As stated in the release, “Some of the dogs had rotting animals or bones of animals in their cages.” RIGDON told the deputy he did it for the dogs to eat on.

RIGDON had one empty bag of dog food and told the deputy that no other dog food was on the property.

RIGDON was arrested on scene and charged with five counts of cruelty to animals.

A short time later, the deputy was contacted by Edmonson County Animal Control and learned that more deceased dogs had been found on the property.

An Animal Control Officer had found a mummified dog inside of a doghouse who had the collar and chain still around his/her neck. There were no signs of food or water inside that doghouse.

As if the situation was not cruel and devastating enough, multiple dog collars were found along with the skeletal remains of the dogs.

Consequently, RIGDON was additionally charged with torture of a dog/cat with serial physical injury or death.

He was booked into the Hart County Jail and online arrest records show he is still in custody.

According to online court records, RIGDON’s arraignment is scheduled to take place on July 12, 2022, at 8:30 a.m.

The furbabies removed from RIGDON’s hellish custody are now being care for by the Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society. One of the furbabies, a male named Silas, is up for adoption so, if you are ready to add a new member to your family, please click here or give the nonprofit a call at (270) - 842 - 8572. Thank you!

The Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office said that this incident makes the third time RIGDON has been charged with cruelty to animals.

RIGDON was arrested the first time in Hart County and the second time on October 23, 2017, in Grayson County.

RIGDON is toxic and toxic people do not change, they only change their victims.

If the law does not change in Kentucky and lawmakers do not take animal cruelty seriously, we will continue to experience cases like this one and the senseless deaths of innocent animals is on you lawmakers!

~ Update: June 26, 2023

On Friday, June 16, 2023, in Wood County Circuit Court VICKI LEAH PATTERSON (pictured) of Davisville, was sentenced for animal cruelty charges.

PATTERSON was sentenced to one to five years in prison and was prohibited from “owning”, “possessing”, and residing with animals for the next fifteen (15) years.

PATTERSON was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine.

Following the discovery of four deceased dogs in her trailer in June 2022, PATTERSON was charged with four felony counts of animal cruelty.

On April 5, 2023, through a plea agreement, PATTERSON pleaded guilty to ONLY one count of animal cruelty.

Last week I emailed Wood County Prosecuting Attorney Pat Lefebure and requested additional information about the Voiceless Victims but I have not heard from her office yet.

Since authorities did not disclose the furbabies’ names, I took the liberty of naming them Beeblossom, Bouquet, Dew, and Sunflower for the tribute image. Should their given names be made public, I will rectify them accordingly.

Deputies with the Wood County Sheriff's Office responded to Turtle Lane in Davisville where they discovered four deceased dogs inside a trailer.

Deputies made contact with the trailer’s owner, 47-years-old VICKI LEAH PATTERSON (pictured), who told them she did not live inside the mobile home but in a car beside it.

According to WTAP, deputies say “they found large amounts of debris and feces in all parts of the trailer.” They also say all the windows were closed and there was no ventilation.

On the windows, deputies observed what appeared to be claw marks indicating that the dogs may have been trying to get out.

The furbabies were located in different parts of the mobile home.

After talking with a neighbor, deputies learned that the neighbor had seen the dogs in the trailer but they had not heard them barking for two months.

When deputies confronted PATTERSON about the dogs, she said they were in the trailer sleeping.

PATTERSON was taken into custody on Tuesday, June 21, on four Felony counts of animal cruelty. Online records show she is still in the North Central Regional Jail and Correctional Facility.

On Wednesday, June 22, Louisville Metro police were called to the 6600 block of Hunter Creek Boulevard, near Louisville's Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood, about two dogs left alone, locked in a hot vehicle.

Responding officers located the vehicle and broke out a back window to take the dogs out. One furbaby was found lifeless and the other one appeared to be in distress.

At the time, the National Weather Service reported the temperature at 93 degrees.

While officers were on the scene, the owner of the vehicle, 21-years-old KYLE JAY COBB (pictured) came out and was questioned about the dogs. COBB told police he was visiting friends, had arrived at about 3:30 in the morning and had been there ever since. Police were called about the dogs around 11:00 a.m.

Reporter David Ochoa with WAVE talked to the neighbor who called the police and learned that the neighbor first saw COBB’s car parked by his house around 9:00 a.m. but the dogs were not seen until two hours later by the neighbor’s grandmother.

The neighbor then waved down an off-duty Shively police officer who lives down the street.

The officer tried breaking the window with a hammer but the attempt was unsuccessful.

WDRB reports that Louisville Metro Animal Services were called in and they took the live dog to be checked out. Teeya Barnes, a spokeswoman from LMAS, said the furbaby passed away while he/she was being taken to the agency.

COBB was arrested and charged with one count of animal cruelty 2nd degree but following the death of the second dog, police said he may face an additional charge.

Online records show COBB is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.

According to court records, COBB’s arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 9:00 a.m.
