On Sunday, May 7, 2023, Met Police were dispatched to the Limehouse area in the Borough of Tower Hamlets in East London after receiving a report that a woman had been attacked by two dogs.

Upon arrival, officers found a homeless man identified as 46-years-old Louie Turnbull (pictured holding a microphone), and his two dogs, a 3-year-old male named Marshall and a 9-month-old male named Millions.

Daily Mail reports that some witnesses who saw the woman, claimed she got caught up in the dogs’ leads and was not seriously injured. Officials confirmed that the woman was not hospitalized.

A distressing video of the incident, which was widely shared online, showed cops surrounding Marshall, Millions, and Turnbull. The dogs were visibly nervous and, in an attempt, to protect their guardian, they lunged at the officers in front of them holding firearms. Keep in mind the Voiceless Victims were on a leash! One of the cops just shot at one of the dogs and the furbaby immediately collapsed. Residents at their windows and balconies of the surrounding apartments recorded the incident while shouting at police telling them to stop. Then, the other dog, still tied to the dog who had been shot, tried to run away dragging the dead dog along and another shot was fired directly at the live dog. Turnbull was tasered, placed under arrest, and charged with two dangerous dog offences.

On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, Turnbull appeared at Thames Magistrates' Court to face charges of being the guardian of a dog who was dangerously out of control and being in possession of a dog while disqualified from owning or keeping a dog. Turnbull pleaded guilty to the latter.

According to This Is Local London, following his court appearance, hundreds of members of the Animal Rising group gathered outside New Scotland Yard on Westminster Embankment on the evening of May 11, 2023, and held a vigil to remember Marshall and Millions.

Dan Kidby, co-founder of Animal Rising, who was at the vigil, said: “The police have continued to act out of line with their job to serve and protect us all - now resulting in the shooting of two beautiful dogs, who hours before were happy and full of life. We’re here to show that, as a community, we will stand together, and be peaceful and defiant in the face of injustice.”

Hundreds of people also gathered outside the Met Police headquarters to protest. Turnbull was present and speaking to the crowd, he slammed the cops as “Murderers”.

Express reports that Turnbull said: “They pulled out all their weapons. They were intimidating me and the dogs. And all they were doing was trying to protect me. I had them on the lead, I was pulling them away and they just murdered them. I can’t sleep.” Turnbull also added: “It was just so disgusting. All I was doing was trying to get them back in the boat. And I was going to come out and speak to the police. But they weren’t having it.”

Another protest also took place outside Limehouse Police Station.

In a statement posted on Tower Hamlets Police’s Twitter page, the Metropolitan Police said it was aware of the video. It read: “Police were called just after 1700hrs on Sunday May 7, to a woman being attacked by a dog in Commercial Road, E14. Officers attended the location where the aggressive behavior of two dogs was of considerable concern and posed a significant threat to them. A man was arrested in connection with the incident for having a dog dangerously out of control and assault offences. No person was taken to hospital. Both dogs were destroyed by police at the scene. This is never an easy decision for an officer to take, but police have a duty to act where necessary before any further injury is caused. The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards will review the circumstances of the incident.”

As reported by LBC, the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards have conducted a thorough review of the incident, including all of the available body-worn footage, and are satisfied that there are no concerns around officer conduct.

But the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) will now investigate two complaints from witnesses. IOPC regional director Amanda Rowe said: “We understand the public concern regarding this incident and it is appropriate that it should be independently investigated. We will examine whether the actions of the officers involved were reasonable and proportionate in all of the circumstances and in line with relevant policy and procedure.”

A petition has been created addressed to the Home Office demanding to hold accountable the officers who killed Marshall and Millions.

Turnbull is due to appear at Snaresbrook crown court on June 6, 2023.

The Pembroke Pines Police Department arrested 40-years-old SHEENA JOVANIA VANDYKE (pictured), after her dog was found lifeless in the backyard of her home.

NBC 6 reports that VANDYKE is “the owner of the popular iKrave, which has a restaurant in Miami's Liberty City and a food truck at PortMiami.”

On Saturday, May 13, 2023, police received an anonymous call about a deceased dog laying in the grass in the backyard of a residence along the 9900 block of Northwest 20th Street.

Upon arrival, in the backyard of the home officers found a lifeless 2-year-old brown French Bulldog, named Frenchie, lying on his right side.

VANDYKE arrived while officials were on the scene. She told them that she had a cleaning crew at her house and, according to the arrest affidavit obtained by Voice For Us, she “placed the dog outside on a leash tethered to a spike so that the company can do what they needed to do.” VANDYKE also told police that “she left food and water outside in the backyard with the dog.”

Officers reported finding food scattered on the grass, an empty, turned over water bowl and no shade for Frenchie.

According to the arrest report, “The dog was left in direct heat and sunlight for hours with no freedom to move about. The dog was attached by a leash from his collar to a stake in the ground. The stake appeared to have been moved due to the dog possibly struggling to free itself.”

The affidavit also stated that “The leash was completely stretched where it appears there was a struggle in an attempt to free itself and find shade or water.”

An officer took Frenchie’s body to Leader Animal Hospital on 9410 Stirling Road where Dr. Jacklyn Denise Johns examined the Voiceless Victim and took X-rays. She then observed "bruises on the neck area, ingesta/vomit in the mouth area as well as blood, rigor mortis, bleeding from the nostril, peeling off the skin from dragging himself, blood coming from the penis, blood on the right eye, and trauma on the neck area."

Dr. Johns advised the officer that Frenchie would be kept in a freezer and sent to the University of Florida for a necropsy.

VANDYKE was arrested on one felony count of animal cruelty and is free on a $5,000 bond.

A friend of VANDYKE’s told NBC 6 that the death of Frenchie was an “accident” and that the cleaning people probably forgot to put him back into the house.

The Wake County Sheriff's Office charged 73-years old AGNES BAILEY GOLDSTON and her husband, 71-years-old JAMES DAVID GOLDSTON III (both pictured), each with three felony counts of cruelty to animals, and one count of communicating threats after three Labrador retrievers were poisoned with two of them dying.

The GOLDSTONS live in the Black Horse Run subdivision in north Raleigh, off Creedmoor Road.

According to a press release by the sheriff’s office and obtained by Voice For Us, on May 8, 2023, the agency received a report of animal cruelty and threatening letters received by residents on Derby Lane in Raleigh.

WRAL identified the residents as Phillip and Jessica Ridley, neighbors of the GOLDSTONS.

The Ridleys told the sheriff’s office that shortly after receiving the letters, two of their dogs, Big Brown and LP, became sick and died.

3-year-old Big Brown died in July 2022 of acute kidney infection caused by possible anti-freeze poisoning; LP lost her life on May 7, 2023.

The Ridleys further reported that their other dog, a 4-year-old named Scruffy, also became sick and was taken to the vet on May 8, 2023, where it was revealed that he had also been poisoned. After LP and Scruffy showed the same symptoms as Big Brown, the Ridleys called law enforcement.

Scruffy is alive and on the mend.

As stated in the press release, “All three dogs were examined by veterinarians at three different hospitals.”

From an investigation it emerged that the Ridleys experienced previous issues with the GOLDSTONS and that “Other neighbors reported getting similar anonymous, threatening letters.”

Ms. Ridley told WRAL: “For the past year over a year, they sent us threatening letters in the mail about our animals and our house.”

As reported by WRAL, according to the warrants, JAMES DAVID GOLDSTON III “sent threatening letters to the Ridleys, including one that said, ‘Your daughter is next. B careful’.”

One of those letters shared with WRAL read, “If one or both of these dogs put their paws on my property I am going to blow their brains out.”

Mr. and Mrs. Ridley say that the GOLDSTONS were known to poison squirrels with antifreeze, and that their dogs might have eaten the squirrels and gotten sick.

The GOLDSTONS were arrested on May 11, 2023, and processed at the Wake County Detention Center. Public court records show they were released after posting a $30,000 secure bond.

WRAL reports that JAMES DAVID GOLDSTON III was a donor and board member of the dog rescue Saving Grace. Part of the nonprofit’s Facebook post published this past Saturday on their page read: “Saving Grace is aware of recent news stories regarding accusations of dogs poisoned in Raleigh. We condemn all forms of animal cruelty. Saving Grace will continue to monitor this situation as the investigation continues, additional evidence is brought forward, and the case moves through the criminal justice process. Although he did not have any direct interaction with the dogs at Saving Grace, James Goldston has voluntarily resigned, effective immediately, to avoid any distraction from the important work of the organization.”

Public court records show that the GOLDSTONS’ next court date is June 1, 2023.
