The Pembroke Pines Police Department announced the arrest of 25-years-old COREY VAUGHN DACRES (pictured).

On the evening of Sunday, July 9, 2023, DACRES got involved in a domestic dispute with his family members at their apartment at the Advenir at San Tropez apartment complex near Northwest 78th Terrace and Northwest 1st Street.

At one point DACRES left the apartment with the family dog, a white female 6-year-old Pitbull terrier named Unity.

DACRES walked to the complex community swimming pool and threw Unity over the locked 5-foot fence surrounding the pool area. He then jumped the fence and got into the pool “where he willfully and maliciously drowned the dog”, said police.

According to the arrest affidavit obtained by Voice For Us, DACRES returned to the apartment after murdering Unity and told his mother: “I killed the dog.”

Police were called and responding officers found Unity at the bottom of the swimming pool “in three feet of water”, stated the report.

Unity’s body was extracted from the pool and pronounced dead.

After an investigation determined that DACRES “intentionally drowned his family’s dog”, he was placed under arrest.

Further investigation revealed that the pool was not open to the public and had been locked up and closed since the Covid19 pandemic”, stated the report.

Officers examined and photographed DACRES’ leg and did not find any injuries and/or marks consistent with a dog bite. The affidavit does not elaborate as to whether DACRES claimed that he was bitten by Unity.

The murderer was transported to the Broward County Jail on one third-degree felony count of aggravated animal cruelty.

On Monday, July 10, 2023, DACRES appeared in court and was ordered held on $35,000 bond and told by a judge he must undergo a mental health evaluation.

Police said this case remains an active criminal investigation, and any additional

information will be released upon availability.

Had Unity been a human, this scum would be facing murder charges, but clearly, to lawmakers, not all lives matter the same way!

The Davie Police Department is investigating after a dog was found in a dumpster, bleeding, after being shot.

The 5-year-old female furbaby was found on Sunday, June 11, 2023, in a dumpster behind the Tires Plus shop at 7520 W State Road 84.

She was then rushed to Broward Animal Care and in a Facebook post the agency wrote: “One of our field officers found Summer (A2297447) thrown in the trash behind a Tires Plus in Davie. The dog was shot through the neck and brought to Broward County Animal Care where our vets are taking great care of her. Luckily, the bullet didn’t hit any major arteries and Summer is expected to be OK.”

According to WSVN, as Summer was being examined, veterinarians scanned her for a microchip and luckily, she had one! It turned out that Summer was registered with the animal rescue group Humans and Animals United, that in the past had found her a home.

The rescue said in a Facebook post that the furbaby, whom they renamed Lily, is back in their care.

Dr. Paula Ferreira, with the Ferreira Animal Hospital, told Local 10 News that Lily was very lucky the bullet did not strike any vital arteries. She said the bullet wound in her neck is still visible. Dr. Ferreira explained: “It’s very close to everything important, the trachea, the artery.”

Police are actively investigating to track down the monster(s) responsible for this egregious crime.

If you have any information, please, do the right thing and come forward. Thank you!

The Pembroke Pines Police Department arrested 40-years-old SHEENA JOVANIA VANDYKE (pictured), after her dog was found lifeless in the backyard of her home.

NBC 6 reports that VANDYKE is “the owner of the popular iKrave, which has a restaurant in Miami's Liberty City and a food truck at PortMiami.”

On Saturday, May 13, 2023, police received an anonymous call about a deceased dog laying in the grass in the backyard of a residence along the 9900 block of Northwest 20th Street.

Upon arrival, in the backyard of the home officers found a lifeless 2-year-old brown French Bulldog, named Frenchie, lying on his right side.

VANDYKE arrived while officials were on the scene. She told them that she had a cleaning crew at her house and, according to the arrest affidavit obtained by Voice For Us, she “placed the dog outside on a leash tethered to a spike so that the company can do what they needed to do.” VANDYKE also told police that “she left food and water outside in the backyard with the dog.”

Officers reported finding food scattered on the grass, an empty, turned over water bowl and no shade for Frenchie.

According to the arrest report, “The dog was left in direct heat and sunlight for hours with no freedom to move about. The dog was attached by a leash from his collar to a stake in the ground. The stake appeared to have been moved due to the dog possibly struggling to free itself.”

The affidavit also stated that “The leash was completely stretched where it appears there was a struggle in an attempt to free itself and find shade or water.”

An officer took Frenchie’s body to Leader Animal Hospital on 9410 Stirling Road where Dr. Jacklyn Denise Johns examined the Voiceless Victim and took X-rays. She then observed "bruises on the neck area, ingesta/vomit in the mouth area as well as blood, rigor mortis, bleeding from the nostril, peeling off the skin from dragging himself, blood coming from the penis, blood on the right eye, and trauma on the neck area."

Dr. Johns advised the officer that Frenchie would be kept in a freezer and sent to the University of Florida for a necropsy.

VANDYKE was arrested on one felony count of animal cruelty and is free on a $5,000 bond.

A friend of VANDYKE’s told NBC 6 that the death of Frenchie was an “accident” and that the cleaning people probably forgot to put him back into the house.
