On the afternoon of Tuesday, September 6, 2022, the Jamestown Police Department's Second Platoon responded to an address on the south side of the city for a dispute.

In a press release police said that officers were advised that something happened to a dog who was on the scene of the incident.

Upon arrival, officers found a gray Pitbull “laying on the ground and unable to move.”

WNY News Now identified the Pitbull as a male named Kovu.

Kovu was bleeding from several open wounds on his head and face.

From an investigation it emerged that 57-years-old GREGORY R. ROSIER (pictured), broke up a fight between his dog and Kovu. “Neither dog was injured in the fight”, said police.

Officers learned from witnesses that after the fight between the dogs was over, and the dogs were separated, ROSIER struck Kovu in the head and face, for no apparent reason, with a metal object which according to WNY News Now was a wrench.

Witnesses told police Kovu “was docile and showed no aggression as Rosier continued to strike the dog numerous times.”

Witnesses further stated that the only reason ROSIER stopped striking the dog was because they intervened.

Kovu’s guardians, Kiara Aossey and Zachary Scott, gave their version of the facts to WNY News Now and Zachary said: “I guess my dog had slipped off his collar and was up here and before I could even know they were up here getting aggressive I guess, my neighbor had told me that my dog was literally up in the Pearl City Cycle van trying to be friendly and get pet by everybody. I guess he turned around and this man’s dog got aggressive and started growling towards my dog. When he turned around to see what was going on, he claimed that they were fighting and instead of breaking it up with his hands, he took a wrench and started hitting my dog in the head repeatedly with it.”

Kiara and Zachary told WNY News Now that their furbaby has never been aggressive towards anyone, or any other dog. Zachary said: “He’s a very friendly, nice, loving pitbull. One of the most loving pitbulls I’ve seen around here, and actually since I moved here I’ve been chased by a couple of pitbulls who were nowhere near as friendly as my pitbull has been trained to be.”

Zachary’s mother rushed Kovu to the Fluvanna vet and according to Kiara staff were very busy so they weren’t able to see Kovu inside but they came outside. Kiara said that Kovu has “a very bad concussion, he’s able to walk but he has a very bad concussion. He has a blood blister on the top of his left side.”

According to Kiara and Zachary, this isn’t the first incident ROSIER had with an animal and they now want him to lose his right to “own” a dog.

Zachary even claimed that ROSIER told him “he was going to have to put his own dog down because his own dog attacked his girlfriend.”

Police arrested ROSIER and charged him with one felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals.

Police said ROSIER is being held in the Jamestown City Jail pending his arraignment.

Online court records show ROSIER is slated to be arraigned on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in the Jamestown City Court before the Honorable Judge John L. Lamancuso.

Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk SPCA, said that his detectives charged 48-years-old CHRISTOPHER M. GARUFI with animal cruelty, assault and aggravated harassment, all class A misdemeanors.

GARUFI is accused of throwing a defenseless cat into the Great South Bay after assaulting the furbaby’s guardian and threatening to harm him.

The Suffolk County SPCA said in a news release that when GARUFI threw the cat into the water, the poor soul was trapped inside his/her guardian’s cat carrier backpack.

The backpack and the cat became completely submerged under water. Thankfully, a bystander immediately jumped into the water and rescued the VOICELESS VICTIM whom I am overjoyed to report is not harmed. The incident happened outside of The Schooner Inn in Ocean Bay Park, Fire Island.

GARUFI, of 75 E. Hoffman Avenue, Lindenhurst, surrendered to SPCA detectives on August 20, 2022.

Online court records show that GARUFI is scheduled to appear in Suffolk First District Court, Central Islip, on September 9, 2022, at 9:00 a.m.

My heartfelt thank you to the hero who saved this precious life!

GARUFI, for you I sincerely wish that someone will pick you up, toss you around, and then drop you on concrete with pieces of glass on it!

On Voice For Us animal abusers are guilty until proven innocent!

Ten horses are now safe and in the care of the nonprofit “Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester”, after they were removed from a property in Orleans County.

WBTA reports that on July 26, 2022, Lollypop Farm Humane Law Enforcement investigators responded to a request from Orleans County Animal Control and on the property, they found “a thin Palomino with overgrown hooves standing on at least 2 feet of packed manure.”

After obtaining a search warrant, investigators returned to the property and discovered ten horses in a severe state of neglect.

The horses were thin, with overgrown hooves, and standing in tight stalls filled with manure”, said Lollypop Farm in a Facebook post.

According to investigators, there was insufficient water in the areas used to house the horses.

On August 16, 2022, authorities arrested the horses’ guardian, 68-years-old ELAINE BUTE, of Carlton, and charged her with ten counts of animal cruelty. BUTE is due to appear in Carlton Town Court on September 12, 2022.

Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester advised that “Due to the ongoing investigation, these horses are not available for adoption.”
