The Suffolk County SPCA said that following an investigation, its detectives have charged 32-years-old CATHERINE GROPPER and 39-years-old CRYSTAL CAHILL each with three counts of animal abandonment and one count of conspiracy to commit a crime.

The nonprofit said that GROPPER and CAHILL were performing animal rescue work for a program known as TNR which stands for Trap, Neuter, and Return (I call it Trap, Neuter, and Re-abandon!).

According to the Suffolk County SPCA, the women trapped cats in East Islip under the pretense of neutering and returning them but instead abandoned three adult cats in Tanner Park in Copiague.

Connecticut 12 News reports that the three cats are still missing after being abandoned in August 2022, and that animal advocates still come to Tanner Park to search for them.

GROPPER, of Massapequa, and CAHILL, of Amityville, are scheduled to appear in First District Court, Central Islip, on October 13, 2022.

If they are found guilty, they could potentially face jail time and fines.

Town of Frankfort Police are investigating after a malnourished dog was found in the weeds on Bleecker Street near the intersection of Center Road on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

Police said a pedestrian found the dog who was laying inside of his cage, with the door open and his leash placed on top of the cage.

As police said, “It is apparent that this pup was mistreated and abandoned.”

Thankfully, the furbaby is now in good hands in the care of the Herkimer County Humane Society. Staff are doing an amazing job at putting the furbaby back on his feet.

Police and the Herkimer County Animal Cruelty Investigator are both handling the investigation and are reaching out to the public for help in hopes of finding the monster(s) responsible for this.

The Suffolk County SPCA said that fruits and vegetables were also found on site.

The Suffolk County SPCA said that over the years, they have investigated many cases of animal sacrifice and Chief Roy Gross of the Suffolk County SPCA told Long Island News 12 that chickens and goats are common use in these types of sacrifices.

A combined reward of $3,000 is being offered in exchange for information leading to the criminal conviction of those responsible for this inexcusable, unjustifiable, and unwarranted barbaric act.
