A bear cub has been tortured to death in Castaños, a city in the Mexican state of Coahuila, in the presence of law enforcement who can be seen smiling and laughing in pictures that captured the heinous act.

Mexico News Daily reports that the cub, approximately 5 months old, entered the village, believed to be looking for water, where residents tied the cub’s legs together before beating him/her and choking him/her to death.

The sickening pictures posted on social media show people dragging the baby bear along the ground with a rope. These so-called people can be seen holding and pulling the rope at both ends while the baby bear is in the middle until he/she collapses.

Arturo Islas Allende, a well-known Mexican actor, TV presenter, and producer, is also an acclaimed environmental activist who posted the gruesome pictures on his Facebook account. In a Facebook post he wrote: “With only 4 months old, this bear is treated worse than the cruelest criminal in Castaños Coahuila, his only sin was to approach the people to look for some water, what they did to this animal is a FEDERAL CRIME PROFEPA must act fast, in addition gives rage to see in the evidence that there was police presence and did nothing but smile and have fun as if it were a circus event, Miguel Angel Riquelme Solis is the current governor in Coahuila, let's write to him with the same impetus they showed the tracking elements and the villagers of that place in all their publications to act soon against that band of social misfits, what a thought, there is a bear looking for water, let's kill it in team. Shame on you Coahuila!

PROFEPA is the Mexican Attorney General for Environmental Protection and in a press release the agency said that it launched a criminal investigation into the murder of the baby bear which could be classified as a “crime against biodiversity.”

PROFEPA further said that the killers could face jail time and fines and stressed that it is committed to the protection of wildlife.

According to Mexico News Daily, Governor Riquelme Solis said on Twitter: “At #Coahuila we will not tolerate animal abuse, our commitment is to ensure the protection of our species and the environment. This act of cruelty will not go unpunished.”

Meanwhile, In Defense of Animals, the animal protection organization founded in San Rafael, California, is encouraging us to take action and demand justice.

Words cannot express what I am feeling right now. But I do echo Arturo Islas Allende's statement, ¡Qué vergüenza Coahuila!

~ Update: October 10, 2023

On October 9, 2023, State Attorney Ed Brodsky’s office announced that on October 4, 2023, 31-years-old ALICIA DEEANN KINCHELOE (pictured) was found guilty of one count of Aggravated Animal Cruelty and one count of Tampering with Evidence. Additionally, the jury found that KINCHELOE intentionally tortured or tormented a raccoon by setting him/her on fire.

Circuit Court Judge Donna Padar presided over the trial.

KINCHELOE is scheduled to be sentenced on December 19, 2023. She faces a maximum sentence of only ten years and I hope she gets them all!

Andrew van Sickle, the Animal Cruelty Prosecutor in Sarasota, said in a statement: “Unfortunately, we were not able to save this animal from a horrific death. However, I am delighted that the jury agreed that all animals, whether domesticated or wild, should be treated humanely and with respect. A simple phone call to Animal Services or FWC would have averted this entire tragedy.”

A criminal animal abuse charge against KINCHELOE’s father, 64-years-old RODDY ROBERT KINCHELOE (also pictured), is still pending. Court records show his jury trial is set to begin on January 16, 2024.

~ Original story:

Sarasota County Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman held a press conference on Friday, September 2, 2022, about the murder of an innocent and defenseless raccoon on August 11, 2022.

The killers have been identified as 30-years-old ALICIA DEEANN KINCHELOE and her father 63-years-old RODDY ROBERT KINCHELOE (both pictured).

At the beginning of the press conference Sheriff Hoffman addressed the criticism that his office and the state’s attorney’s office received for taking weeks to arrest the murderers. He explained that it took time for his deputies to compile evidence, conduct interviews, obtain videos, and obtain signatures on warrants before the arrests were made.

The sheriff also pointed out the significant amount of attention this case received even from out of Florida.

Evidence gathered during the investigation showed that RODDY ROBERT KINCHELOE stabbed the raccoon with a pitchfork while the creature was in a dumpster behind some businesses, and his daughter was filming the revolting act.

Sheriff Hoffman said videos obtained did not show the raccoon displaying any aggressive behavior.

After stabbing the poor soul, father and daughter went out to lunch and then returned to the dumpster to find out that the raccoon was still alive.

At that point, the father told his daughter to get a gasoline can from his truck and set the raccoon on fire.

The daughter can be heard in the video saying: “We just toasted his (expletive), who’s hungry?

A second video showed the father hosing down the dumpster and pulling the raccoon out who at that point was deceased. The daughter picks up the raccoon, and while she goes off camera she disposes of the body.

Sheriff Hoffman said father and daughter claimed there was water in the gasoline jug, not gas.

Deputies were able to prove that there was flammable liquid inside the can.

The evil-minded duo were arrested on the afternoon of Thursday, September 1, 2022.

The daughter, of 2457 E. Burr Oak Court, Sarasota, is charged with aggravated animal cruelty and tampering with physical evidence. She was released on $3,000 bond.

The father, of 2443 Eugene Street, Sarasota, is charged with a single count of aggravated animal cruelty.

The father’s mugshot was taken at a hospital because, during the course of his arrest, he claimed he experienced a medical issue and was taken to a hospital where the booking photograph was taken. Sheriff Hoffman said: “I don’t know the specifics of his medical condition, nor do I really care.”

The scum was released on a $1,500 bond.

Sheriff Hoffman said while the daughter did not have a prior criminal record, her father has a fairly extensive criminal history, which you would expect from a scum that hurts animals, he said. Among the offenses are drugs, prostitution, domestic violence, and contempt of court.

What can I say about these sadistic, useless, evil oxygen thieves that has not already been said?

Wishing you the same torture you inflicted on a creature who could not fight back would be too generous. You both deserve more pain.

I hope one day you will both witness each other being tortured and not be able to intervene.

Then you will know how the raccoon felt.
