KELLY LYNN HUFF arrested - 4 dead dogs and 19 neglected animals found at a Cambria County home

The Humane Society of Cambria County arrested 37-year-old KELLY LYNN HUFF (pictured).


On January 21, 2025, humane officers responded to HUFF’s home on Chandler Avenue in Johnstown after receiving complaints about animals being abused and neglected.


Officers found six cats, seven dogs, and two reptiles who were being kept in squalid conditions. According to investigators, the home was covered in feces and urine. Sadly, inside the home, officers also discovered four deceased dogs.


Officials said the Voiceless Victims did not have any access to food or water


Following the first visit to HUFF’s home, four additional dogs, who had also been abused and neglected, were surrendered, totaling nineteen (19) animals who were rescued and are now at the Humane Society of Cambria County.


According to the affidavit, several animals were “concerningly skinny.” Many of them had open wounds, overgrown toenails, and were suffering from severe hair loss and skin irritation caused by fleas.


HUFF is behind bars at Cambria County Prison and bail was set at $350,000.


Court records show she is facing:

14 felony counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals - Causing SBI or Death

18 misdemeanor counts of Neglect of Animals – Sustenance/Water

15 misdemeanor counts of Neglect of Animals – Vet Care

10 misdemeanor counts of Cruelty to Animals


HUFF was arraigned on February 3, 2025, and her next court appearance was rescheduled to take place on February 19, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.

JEFFREY S. HORST and a minor caught on video harassing an innocent fox while on their snowmobiles

Thanks to a resident who recorded a despicable act of animal cruelty, two low lives in Lebanon County are now facing charges.


On the afternoon of January 20, 2025, two male subjects in a field near the intersection of SR 501 and Locust Street in Heidelberg Township, were witnessed harassing a red fox and trying to run him/her over while on their snowmobile.


The video recorded by the witness was turned over to the Pennsylvania Game Commission- Southeast Region and the agency took to Facebook their appeal for the community to come forward with information.


Part of the Facebook post read: “The state game warden’s investigation suggested the fox was being chased through the field for more than 30 minutes by two individuals operating snowmobiles. The suspects ran over the fox multiple times with their snowmobiles during the horrific incident.”


State Game Warden Zach Salsgiver told WGAL: “Public outreach was immediate, and we received dozens of tips.”


On January 24, 2025, 20-year-old JEFFREY S. HORST, of Myerstown, and a 17-year-old turned themselves in.

Zach Salsgiver said they admitted to chasing the fox with the intent of running him/her over.


HORST and the juvenile were charged with two misdemeanors, cruelty to animals and conspiracy of animal cruelty, as well as four summary charges. Lebanon County District Attorney Pier Hess Graf said by law, the juvenile’s name cannot be released. In court documents, the juvenile is identified as “A.S.B.”


A preliminary hearing is set to take place on March 6, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Verna.


Sadly, the fox was not found when officials went to the location, so they are not sure whether or not he/she died.

LAQUENTA REYNOLDS, who was running a dog rescue out of her home, arrested for animal abuse

An investigation into reports of animal abuse led the California City Police Department to the arrest of 47-year-old LAQUENTA REYNOLDS (pictured via Facebook).


In a press release, police said that for over a month they have been actively investigating REYNOLDS after they were alerted to several dogs being kept in poor condition in the garage of REYNOLDS’ home on 20621 94th Street in California City.


On January 7, 2025, officers along with Animal Control went to REYNOLDS’ home out of which she was operating a dog rescue called “Pawfect Companions”.


According to the press release, REYNOLDS allowed officers to enter her garage where they found fifteen dogs who were being kept in metal crates. Police said many of the dogs appeared to be emaciated and had “apparent wounds on their extremities.”


All of the fifteen dogs were removed from the property and five of them were taken for emergency veterinarian care.


The investigation determined that the furvictims were suffering from malnutrition, dehydration, and open infected wounds with bacterial and fungal infections. It was further ascertained that the condition of the poor souls was the result of being neglected while in REYNOLDS’ care. REYNOLDS allowed the dogs to suffer needlessly by not providing adequate food or water.


Police said that in view of these findings and new evidence, a search warrant was obtained and executed on January 31, 2025.


Animal Control, police, Code Enforcement, and the Fire Department were all on the scene when the warrant was executed at REYNOLDS’ home.


Officials discovered and removed thirty-three additional dogs. The furvictims were scattered all over the home. Some were found in bedrooms, others in closets, and common areas.

All of the thirty-three Voiceless Victims were taken to “approved and safe animal rescues in California”, said the police.


REYNOLDS was placed under arrest and booked for animal cruelty.
